Instagram LogoSo much great scripture this morning. Todays takeaway is this for me… If you seek to impress others, whether with your prayer, your giving, your charity, your kindness…no matter what it is that you do if you do it for the sake of getting attention, that attention IS your reward. But if we do good without expectation of reward. If we do good PURELY for the sake of loving someone else because they too are God’s beloved…with no want of reward…God will be pleased, and THAT is the ultimate reward. ““Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. Otherwise, you have no reward with your Father in heaven. So whenever you give to the poor, don’t sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be applauded by people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward. so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. “Whenever you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward. But when you pray, go into your private room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. When you pray, don’t babble like the Gentiles, since they imagine they’ll be heard for their many words. Don’t be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask him.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:1-2, 4-8‬ ‭CSB‬‬ #ValueDrivenCoach #LearnLiveLove #TheWay #Jesus #God #LoveWins #blessed #Inspiration #Motivation #Joy #Peace #Love #GoldenRule
Instagram LogoOur natural desire during times someone causes us unjust harm is to fight. Whether it is the disrespectful ex-spouse, the thieving neighbor or government overreach…we have what feels like a natural inclination to fight. It’s our ‘animalistic’ nature trying to take over. In Greek, this is referred to as SARX. But the Bible tells us not to give in to our SARX when we someone commits an injustice against us, but rather we learn this from Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians: “See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek that which is good for one another and for all people.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:15‬ ‭AMP‬‬ “All people…” not just Christians. Not just those who agree with us politically. “All people.” Not just those with the same theology. “All people.” Not just our friends and people that like us. “All people.” When we choose to show kindness to people who commit an injustice, we are showing an example of the undeserved mercy that God has shown us through Jesus. Today let me encourage you, as Holy Spirit is encouraging me. Do your best to fight your SARX and instead, choose to be as Christ Jesus by praying for those who are committing injustice. From the Facebook haters to the ex-spouses to the tyrannical governments to the person who cuts you off in traffic that you just want to show that special finger to…yes they make us SO SO angry…and YES…Jesus called us to pray for them. When we choose prayer over evil, it removes any chance of someone saying “you talk the Jesus talk BUT…” I know many of my Christian brothers and sisters want to be seen as powerful and mighty lions and warriors and God bless ‘em for it. I get it, we all want to be like Jesus the Lion of Judah, but not Jesus the Lamb who was slain for the salvation of all. Personally, I’d rather be known for and seen as a humble lamb, even if it means being mocked by all those “warrior lions” because I chose to err on the side of modeling Christ’s love in a zealous way rather than ‘roaring’ like a Lion and turning people away from Christ because of my ‘roar’. #TheWay #Jesus #God #LoveWins #blessed #Joy #Peace #housechurch #lovelikeJesus #dontrepayevilwithevil
