This morning's devotional, along with my reading yesterday, really brought out some powerful thoughts. I have been to churches that preach grace and forgiveness, but when there is a specific sin they are quick to assign God's judgement to "those people". We all have a tendency to pervert the scripture in our favor though don't we? Have you ever heard "Christians" speak about being saved and those who are "not saved"? Have you ever heard those same "Christians". Those who are saved are "in" the club going to heaven but those who aren't saved are "out" when it comes to the "get to heaven club". Have you ever heard those same "Christians" share their testimony on how they were the 'biggest sinner of fall but "by the grace of God they were saved by Jesus death on the cross? So which is it? Is Jesus death enough to save everyone or not? I believe it was, so what we now must do is truly believe that, believe God loves us that much, and live like we believe it. Here is one final thing for you to consider... Have you ever noticed how the same folks who are quick to decide who is "in" and who is "out" always happen to be part of the group that is "in?" If someone today gave their life to save yours I bet you would spend the rest of your days Telling people the story of this selfless loving hero who gave you the gift of your life. I bet-you would tell people how grateful you are...and how you're even more grateful because You didn't even know this stranger before they gave up everything for you. Well guess what? Jesus gave it all to rescue us. gave his own life on the cross so we could live free. Are you out there telling people how grateful you are for what he has done?

I was reading Luke 7:36-50 this morning about the woman washing Jesus feet with her tears, drying them with her hair and anointing them with oil and had to ask myself: “when have I shown him so much gratitude for what he has done for me?” I know the answer...never. It’s a powerful, yet painful question to ask ourselves but I challenge everyone to ask it of yourselves as you read like 7:36-50. A woman considered to be the “town harlot” went somewhere she was not welcome, and was definitely not invited, and put herself out there purely to show thanks for the love Jesus gave her as the messiah. It makes you wonder...how did this woman who wasn’t allowed to be taught the scriptures have a better understanding of the forgiveness and salvation the messiah would bring, than all the Pharisees. Her faith in who Jesus is...brought actions that led to one of the best examples of how we are to behave as followers of Jesus way. This entire story ends with Jesus saying “your faith has saved you. God give us everything. Our jobs, ambition, talents, and even our very lives. How do you thank Him? - by going to church? - by singing a song here and there? He doesn’t just want a “thanks” so that we can move on and take our gifts with us. God wants us to live our entire life as an act of gratitude and worship. How is it ok to turn off our love for Him at work, or around certain friends? Does He turn off His love for you? Of course not. He launched an eternal rescue mission to save us...should we not be eternally grateful and focused on showing an eternity of gratitude with how we live our very lives? “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it.
