Instagram LogoSometimes as Christ followers we tell people “don’t worry give it to God“ but we don’t know lies that… Worry is a natural emotion. Often when Christian say “don’t worry give it to God“ it doesn’t make sense to people because what does that even mean? Does it mean God‘s going to pay my mortgage? Does it mean God‘s going to get that bully to stop picking on my kid? Does it mean that God‘s going to take away the depression that my loved one is struggling with? When we see Paul in his letter to the Philippians telling them not to worry, notice what he says. He’s recognizing that worry is a normal feeling we’re going to have and then he’s giving us a tangible action, “instead prey“. He is saying, when you start to worry, when you start to feel that anxiety coming on, when you start to wonder if you’re ever going to get through this time… That’s the perfect time to have a conversation with your Heavenly Father. he doesn’t say dad is going to come to the rescue and fix the situation right now, what he does say is that praying during those times will bring us a sense of comfort because we will feel the presence of God. I know that many of us, our friends and family members are struggling. And of course we have things that would make us worry… I want to encourage you by saying that it’s OK to feel the way you feel, now please take action and have a conversation with God. Let him know what you’re afraid of. It doesn’t mean that those worries won’t pop back up, it doesn’t mean that you won’t be afraid, but you’ll have the peace of knowing that the God of the universe is with you even in the storm. He loves you. “Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:6-7‬ ‭MSG‬‬ https://www.bible.com/97/php.4.6-7.msg #OneMomentAway #JesusWay #GodIsGood #PraiseJesus #thankyoulord #lovewins #blessed #God
Instagram LogoNo America, Donald Trump isn’t Jesus, and our country doesn’t have a “corner on the market“ when it comes to following Jesus. As a matter of fact, I think many of us including me I’ve spent way too much of our time talking about everything but Jesus. Let me explain... I do not hide that I am a conservative. I have voiced on several occasions that while I believe Donald Trump I had policies that supported more of my values than Joe Biden, I have never believed Trump was some representative of evangelical Christians any more than I believe Joe Biden is a representative of Catholics… For some reason, Americans think that Jesus is pro America, and that Jesus is pro Donald Trump. I don’t know why everyone acts like our president was some super Christ follower. I voted for Trump over Biden because I believe more of his policies are better for Americans, and I’m grateful that some of his policies align with my Christ following values (like not murdering babies). Make no mistake though, he’s NOT your savior, and he’s not some shining example of how we are supposed to behave as Christ followers. We are told to follow Jesus, not any politician. While it is my personal opinion that we have a responsibility to vote for the person whose policies will align the closest with the values, it doesn’t mean that by default that candidate instantly becomes a Christ follower and it doesn’t mean that God supports that candidate. And it doesn’t mean that the other guy was able to get into office by pulling a fast one over God, the creator of the universe, it’s not possible. Even if you don’t like the other guy, or you didn’t vote for him, remember that God is always in control. Don’t believe me? Read the Bible and see how many times people had political power when it was very clear they were not serving God and they were even killing his people. Often times, God allowed someone like that to be in power so that his people would realize they’ve been far from him and they need to turn back toward him and cry out to him. Maybe Joe Biden is what America needs. Not because he’s a good guy, but because Americans, has been behaving like Pharisees. We’ve been acting like we have c
