Not evolved for reflection

Hi,

A quick thing that I've heard recently and ties into the constant quote that recurs in my mind:

"We are beautifully evolved for a world we no longer live in.'

Think about 99.99% of our evolution.

How often would we ever have seen what we looked like?

Almost never.

In water's reflection, and if you were in a very cold area, perhaps the reflection of some ice.

Compare that to today. I think most of us would struggle to get by an hour without seeing our own face countless times.

We've got mirrors in our rooms, shop windows, on our phone screens (I learnt recently that that's why Black Mirror is called that...).

Now just think for a second how that might change the way we think about ourselves and the people around us.

I'd wager many of us spend more than 50% of our time looking at our own face, than faces of the people around us... Consider that even when we do digital meetings, we're constantly checking down to see what we look like. When we look at photos, we look to ourselves first.

Anyway that's about the thought.

Consider zoom screens - I tried covering my face with another tab so I could focus fully on "not me" when having a conversation. Would recommend.

Anyway - just wanted to point you to 5 top performing emails that you could peruse.

I'm about to fly to Norway for the midnight marathon!
