So many people try to reduce the God of the Universe and Jesus, our Messiah, to some catchy motivational speech or nifty word on a T-shirt or other mercy as they’re chasing clout and trying to edify themselves. That’s not what this life is about if you’re following Jesus. There is not step A, B, C to salvation. Just step A...Jesus saved you. Then question A...how will you live now that you know it? Why so many “Christians” keep using God as a tool to sell merch and to try and gain popularity with other humans baffles me. We have been let into a holy family, we have been shown the mysteries of the universe...but some of us still have our eyes on being the popular kids in class ??‍♂️ Wake up! God wants you to point people to what Jesus did...not to create a sales pitch for heaven! Love God, Love People...can it get more simple to understand the good news? The good news is that by God’s grace we are alive and can do both: Love God and love people. “Don’t look for shortcuts to God. Hey "christians" did you know that preaching hell isn't good news to anyone? Many people shy away from knowing God because they've been hammered on by "christians" who want to scare you into religion by using the threat of eternal fire. What's interesting is to me is, the writers of our scripture did didn't take this approach...so why do "christians" insist on preaching a message of hell fire?  In the King James Version of the Bible for example, love is mentioned 311 times where as hell is mentioned just 31 times.  So LOVE is the driving message that is promoted 10X more than hell.  Why am I sharing this? Because a good father loves their children and wants the best for them. A good father wants to help their children. Jesus shared a reminder of this in the book of Luke. If the writers of scripture realized that talking about love has 10X more value for helping people know God and follow Jesus, perhaps "christians" should consider using the same approach. “Don’t bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This is not a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we’re in. If your little boy asks for a serving of fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? If your little girl asks for an egg, do you trick her with a spider? As bad as you are, you wouldn’t think of such a thing—you’re at least decent to your own children. And don’t you think the Father who conceived you in love will give the Holy Spirit when you ask him?” Luke 11:11 Message Translation P.S. If you wonder why I put "christians" in quotes...it's because I don't believe Jesus came to create a religion in His name. He criticized the pharisees over and over again about putting religion and rules over following God by loving Him and loving other people. So yes I follow Jesus, and yes I believe the Bible is truth but no, I don't use the label "christian" because I feel that it is just one more label that has been used to divide people by assuming who's "in" and who's "out" and as best I can tell, Jesus came to rescue everyone, and scripture says God launched this rescue even "when we were His enemies".

Often when we read this it isn’t relatable because nobody is crucifying us for loving Jesus but...have you ever lost a friend. If you’re a teen, have you ever been thought of as the weird Jesus kid or laughed at because you go to church, or have you been teased because you believe in the values Jesus shared? Emotionally many of us can relate to being thought of as silly because we follow Jesus but I want to tell you that it’s ok. Be proud when people call you foolish for believing in God and following Jesus. God is a rescuer, Jesus is a rescuer...so if people call you foolish for making your whole life about rescuing people and loving people...it’s just more proof that this world needs to actually get to know Jesus. You’re making a difference in this world and Jesus knew people would shun you for following Him which may be why he reminded us to love our enemies. “If you’re abused because of Christ, count yourself fortunate. It’s the Spirit of God and his glory in you that brought you to the notice of others. If they’re on you because you broke the law or disturbed the peace, that’s a different matter. But if it’s because you’re a Christian, don’t give it a second thought. How do you view your work? Are you working for God or for your boss? It’s easy to get upset with our human bosses because they’re not perfect, they let us down, they make mistakes...even if they’re great people, they’re still people. God however is always honorable, He never asks more of us than we can handle and he always does wants the best for us. When you’re working, work as if you’re doing it for God, and trust that He wants the best for your life. In this one minute message I answer the question, is religion bad? Many people have decided that church isn't for them...of course they have because they are sick of religion. That said, who would say no to the idea of a relationship with a loving father who rescues and redeems? Nobody right? And isn't that he core issue? People have been told that God and Jesus are all about who is going to hell and who isn't...but that's not really a story of "good news" is it? You're going to hell...unless you do step 1, 2 and 3...no wonder people don't want to go to church. Nobody wants to meet THAT God or THAT Jesus. The good news though, is that the God of the Bible, and the Jesus of the Bible, aren't THAT God or THAT Jesus. I want to encourage you, please read your bible. Read the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) and learn who Jesus REALLY is. Once you actually read who Jesus is...you'll realize that he didn't like religion either. And moreover, maybe you'll realize that he loves you more than anyone you've ever met, which is why he rescued you, and why Jesus, and his ways, are worth following. God loves you and so do I my friend!
