allow me to reintroduce myself?

Hi friends!
There are quite a new faces here, so I thought I'd do a little reintroduction! I'm also going to be following a new rhythm for these emails which I think you will like, and you can find it at the bottom of this email. 💌
Storytime...I started this work as a Pilates instructor and a doula way back in 2014, when I quickly realized my doula clients were experiencing incontinence, prolapse, diastasis, and other issues while I was simultaneously learning through Pilates that exercise can be restorative and even preventative for these things. I studied under Kim Vopni (and Bellies Inc. at the time) and became a Core Confidence Specialist in 2017, which led to later completing my internship for my degree program with the Core Confidence Education founders by co-creating the Pre/Postnatal Exercise Specialist Certification, which is the one we taught a few weeks ago here in Alaska, and becoming one of 2 master trainers in the USA! I hold my BS in exercise science, and through my own journey with movement and background in clinical exercise physiology, I've developed a method for restoring natural movement, improving pelvic floor symptoms, and empowering people to move more freely. And my clients get really amazing results, like they stop leaking and their pain goes away within a few sessions!!
I really aim to make movement more fun and accessible for moms like you, who are busy and who have realized there's a whole bunch of stuff they didn't tell you about...like your pelvic floor, and how to correctly train your core, what to do if you're leaking when you lift or laugh, and how to prep for and recover well from pregnancy and birth. You can always count on me to talk about just how connected the body is, and how minimal footwear and foot strength is the foundation to a strong and resilient pelvic floor. 👣
My passion is educating and helping provide resources for people so they can take responsibility for their health. I started The Resource Doula Podcast to shine light on areas of health and wellness that are overwhelming (specifically preconception, pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenting) and even though I never thought I'd be a podcaster, I LOVE hosting the show, and have gotten amazing feedback. I also do in-person workshops locally, and work with clients 1:1 both in person and virtually.

10 fun facts about me you may not know yet:
- I am married to my best friend! My husband and I met 13 years ago, and he supports me in my business behind the scenes. Any amazing video content or web design is because of him. ♥️
- I have a cute little kitty named Kodak who we rescued back in 2020. He brings us joy every single day. 🐈⬛
- I hate socks and would rather never wear them....partially because they squish toes and that's not optimal and mostly because I love being barefoot (I do wear them when it's super cold, unfortunately)
- I was born and raised in Alaska, and still live here! I do love living here, although I would have no problem moving to the beach.
- I make sourdough! I was gluten free, dairy free, and fun free 😄 for many years and have loved learning a new skill that reminds me the best things in life take time.
- Similar theme - I don't really measure when I cook, and even if I find a recipe, I change it because I'm such a rebel that no one can tell me what to do....even a recipe. 🤣
- I don't understand pro sports in America even though I'm an exercise person. Personally, I think teachers should make the current athlete salary and athletes should make the current teacher salary. We would make a lot more forward progress as a nation that way in my opinion.
- I don't like scary movies at all. I jump off my seat in Finding Nemo. That's my level of scary I can handle. 🐡
- I'm a strong believer you should lift heavy things. Regardless of what other activities you do, you gotta load those bones!
- I'm an ideas woman. If you tell me something you're stumped on, or if you're looking for ideas, I'll probably have at least 15 good ones for you within a couple minutes. 💡
Here's the new email newsletter rhythm I'm going to follow for the next few months, and would love to hear what week you're most excited for!
- 1st week of the month: monthly roundup of accounts, articles, podcasts, and anything else that caught my eye or I feel is valuable to share with you all. This will include the podcasts and other content I make as well!
- 2nd week of the month: a "teaching" topic where I dive into anything from bunions to prolapse to the benefits from different types of exercise.
- 3rd week of the month: client wins and mini case studies on how they achieved their success!
- 4th week of the month: simple tips for improving pelvic floor symptoms, foot health, tips on non-toxic living, natural movement, and things like that!
Can't wait! See you next week, for a monthly roundup email, and then the following week we will talk about returning to high impact activity after having a baby or experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction like leaking or prolapse.
Thank you so much for reading!! If you enjoy this newsletter, please use the referral link at the bottom to send to a friend who might enjoy it too!
