ready for 8 simple habit hacks?

Hey Friends, happy Monday!

Do you ever set out to start a new habit, but then get so busy you forget to even do it for a few days in a row? Same. I get distracted, and out of sight often means out of mind for me.

I know that many people decide they want to add in more movement throughout the day, but get caught up in the complexities of programs and which exercises to do. Overcomplicating the process = inaction.

I want to share some of the ways I've made movement more habitual in my life, because we could all use some habit hacking in our lives! Most of these are fairly inexpensive, and can be implemented today. Let me know what you end up trying!!

  1. Fold/sort laundry (or do another regular task) on the floor for extra get ups!
  2. Put the equipment you already have out in the middle of the room where you'll see it. Don't underestimate the power of one dumbbell or a pull-up bar in the doorway of your main hallway! Of course keep it safe and avoid a tripping hazard.
  3. Place a massage ball by your feet at your desk for foot movement throughout the day when you are stuck at your computer.
  4. Use your laptop in different places and positions: place it on a low coffee table and sit on a cushion to practice your deep squats or stand, using it at the kitchen counter.
  5. Place regularly used items in lower cabinets in the kitchen so you have to squat and reach to get them.
  6. Have flexible seating, so ditch the excess furniture and put some sitting cushions on the floor or have a stability ball to use as a movement-forward seat.
  7. Have mobility tools like a foam roller, an acupressure mat, toe spreaders, and massage balls out for easy access in the room where you tend to lounge the most, so you can easily grab one of them when you're watching a show instead of doom scrolling on the couch. (Of course I've chosen that over movement, but I always feel better when I move a bit!)
  8. Have a balance beam - like one from The Foot Collective (you can use the code TRAINERNATALIE for a discount!) - in the middle of your living area...this is a game changer. Everyone who comes to my house tries it, kids and adults alike. I walk on it while on phone calls and when I'm waiting for water to boil, etc. And the best part is that it's fun!! Playful movement is the best kind of movement.

How are you going to add in a little more movement this week? Hit reply and let me know!

Warmly,

Natalie
