Sunday Stir #35 - Controversial Ideas, Tardiness, Worry
Aug 30, 2021 4:51 am
Happy Sunday! I just finished The 50th Law by Robert Greene and 50 Cent. 50 Cent is an underrated empire builder. He's more than a rapper. He grew up as a drug dealer, used music to escape that, and then went on to build tons of businesses. The theme of the book is fearlessness and it has some really great street smart advice. Really enjoyed it. I'll be putting out a summary of it on my website soon.
On to the Stir!
The World of Controversial Ideas
Groupthink and tribalism reigns right now. Openly speak about an opinion or belief you have about something and people might not be your friend anymore. In general or maybe just online, we've lost the ability to let others have different ideas and still remain respectful and in extreme circumstance, even friends. This is dumb and bad for society. For all the talk about diversity, diversity of thought is really crapped on. Anyways, I bring this up to ask you:
What are some things that you think are good but “feel” bad?
I'll go first:
- Death Penalty
- Nuclear Power
- Spanking children
- Controlled burns
- Being contrarian
Those ideas aren't actually that controversial, I don't think. These things are necessary and good but sometimes and to some people they can seem bad. I would love to hear how you would answer this question. My email is open. Let me know what you think of my answers too. I'm always up for a good discussion.
The World of Tardiness
How many of you struggle with being late to everything? This simple flip makes it easier to start showing up to things early instead of being late.
Always pretend there's no such thing as "on time", you're either early or late. "On time" is only encompassed by a single minute, so always plan to be early and you'll never be late. /source
The World of Wisdom
"To worry before it is necessary is to worry more than is necessary."
End Note
