Sunday Stir #18 - Weight Gain, Beer Mode, NFTs, A+ Marketing
Mar 29, 2021 5:11 am
Happy Sunday! Lots of things going on in the world right now. You've got the Suez Canal blocked, NFTs, talks of gun control, ridiculous real estate market and much much more. However, I've kept it simple this week.

On to the Stir!
The World of Weight Gain
During this pandemic most of us have gotten fatter. I definitely did. First off, we Americans are in an extremely fortunate position with regards to food availability, housing, climate control, etc. Even the poorest Americans live better than all of the kings of old. We're extremely well off and food is readily available. According to this pandemic survey, 42% of Americans report undesired weight gain during Covid 19. The average weight gain is 29 lbs. And 41 lbs for Millennials!
All of that takeout didn't bode well for Millennials as the generation that gained the most weight this last year.
The World of Beer Mode vs Coffee Mode
There's 2 modes of working - one creative and one productive. Beer = creative. Coffee = production.
Beer mode: A state of unfocused play where you discover new ideas.
Coffee mode: A state of focused work where you grind towards a specific outcome.
You find ideas in Beer mode and implement them in Coffee mode.
The beer mode doesn't get a lot of attention. We're normally racing around all day, trying to knock out our ever-increasing to do list. Creative ideas generally don't strike you when you're in coffee mode. The best ideas usually come when you're relaxed or playing — right before bed, in the shower, on a long walk, or after dinner when you're drinking alcohol. We've made coffee mode the only mode we use to work. Perhaps, it's time take a step back and create some space in our calendar for beer mode.
The World of NFTs
NFTs explained.
This image explaining NFTs sold as an NFT for like $28k or something absurd.
Non-fungible tokens or NFTs are digital assets on blockchain. With NFTs, you’re not buying the art. You’re buying the NFT. The NFT is not the art. It’s a few lines of code that includes a reference to the art, but that’s it. I can copy and paste the original art like I did here so they don't own the art in any real sense. They own the NFT. For those unfamiliar with NFTs read this.
The World of Great Marketing
Sometimes the best marketing comes from the mouths of customers. Just riffing off of something a customer or user has said can really take your marketing to the next level. Case in point....
The World of Wisdom
@DanGo If you drank more water you’d realize you need less coffee.
