Sunday Stir #22 - History Repeating, Animal Selfies, Telsa, Cookies

May 03, 2021 4:22 am

Happy Sunday! It's May and we're quickly rolling into the Summer. Got to say I'm really looking forward to it. Vaccinations a plenty, things opening back up, people have money to spend, should be a fun next couple of months. Remember when that Dance Monkey came out of nowhere? Whoever comes out with Summer 2021 anthem song will go down in music history. There's got to be so much anticipation and energy building up, it will be playing everywhere. It will be legendary! Any guesses as to who will make that viral hit?

Alrighty on to the Stir!

The World of Cyclical History

Everything comes full circle. History tends to move in cycles. You may have heard the saying...“Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times." - G. Michael Hopf. Tim Urban from Wait But Why posted this graphic that sums up this cyclical vision of history.

He added the commentary that he's worried we're somewhere on the right side and I tend to agree with him.

The World of Animals

Just for fun here's a great thread of animals taking selfies. Here's a couple from the list that I really liked:

The World of Tweets

@craigclemens Can we cancel the person who made it so we have to “accept cookies” at the bottom of every page on the damn internet?

@documentingbtc Tesla has made more profit by selling bitcoin than in 14 years of selling cars.

@MorningBrew

Oscars viewership through the years:

2014: 43.7 million

2015: 37.3 million

2016: 34.4 million

2017: 32.9 million

2018: 26.5 million

2019: 29.6 million

2020: 23.6 million

@nikitabier Remember when people in 2017 thought it was social activism to order a Lyft instead of an Uber?

The World of Proverbs

"There are only two kinds of people who fail: those who listen to nobody . . . and those who listen to everybody.” - Thomas Beshere, Jr.

Counsel from a few wise people is good. Counsel from anyone and everyone never leads to the best decisions.
