Happy Sunday! Summer is chugging along and picking up heat. Not much to update you on so if you've enjoyed the Sunday Stir, I'd love it if you shared it with a friend or two. You can send them here to sign up.

Alrighty on to the Stir!

The World of Donald Trump Impersonations

One of my favorite impressions to do is Donald Trump. I thought I did a decent impression. But I know realize that was false. Mine don't come close to this guy's impersonations. He absolutely nails the timing and delivery and sounds exactly like Trump. Take a listen.

The World of Delayed Adulthood

This chart shows the percentage of adults hitting "Adult" milestones. It shows you current 30 year olds vs 30 year olds from 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago. The Adult milestones being living on their own, married, with a child, and owning a home.

It's hard to say why this is happening precisely. There's a lot of factors at play here and I still don't have a great answer for this. I want to say present 30 year olds (this is a generalization) are spoiled and narcissistic so they do everything to run away from responsibility or sacrifices. But...I know that's too simplistic. Economic reasons probably play a big role here. It takes a really long time to get financially settled where you can get married, have children, and own a home. There's also a lot of 30 year olds that want all of those things and are ready but things just haven't aligned quite yet. Why do you think modern adults are taking longer to do adult things?

The World of Desire

Here's an interesting idea - Mimetic Theory of Desire: Desire is a tricky thing. We don’t know what we want, so we imitate each other — like sheep. Instead of creating our own desires, we desire the same things as other people. The entire advertising industry is built on this idea. What would you buy if you were really rich? Do you really want a yacht? An enormous house? Fancy car? Do you truly desire that or do you want that because that's what it looks like everyone else who's rich wants too.

The World of Proverbs

“Art, like morality, consists of drawing the line somewhere.” ― G.K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy

End Note

Send me some interesting things you've found recently! I may include them in one of the episodes.
