Instagram LogoPerfectionism is a curse! I knew I could write. But how do I get someone else to write as well as I did? I was never satisfied with any piece of writing someone else managed to do, that didn’t come from me, or didn’t appear exactly the way I envisioned it in my head. At first, I thought I was just being an excellent teacher. But it drove my students farther away from creativity than ever. Why did I have to be the judge of creativity? That’s how I kept failing as a tutor until I understood this? No one can write like you. Because no one else is you. Learning the art of content creation should inspire you to write better, but like YOU. Shouldn’t be like anyone else. You can take cues from general writing principles, but the essence (you) should never be lost. Another profound lesson is, there are no perfect stories or pieces. Because there are no perfect people. So let’s the writing mistakes occasionally reveal your humanity. Let people make excuses for you sometimes. Let them appreciate your growth and see that there’s hope for them. Once upon a time, you couldn’t write up the right tenses. Now you can. You just couldn’t figure out homophones. Now you can. You couldn’t clearly articulate your thoughts. Now you can. You have a story solely because you permitted your imperfection to show, at a point in time. And this is why... Perfectionism is a curse. It never sponsors growth. #gracechristos #paidwriter #contentcreator #tmctribe #wearenigeriancreatives #jooget #nigeriancreatives #lagoscreatives #digitalmarketer #writingbasics #writerscommunity #everythingnaart #sundaymotivation #tribecalledena #diaryofacreative #batribe
Instagram LogoI was 16. In 100 level. A.B.U Zaria. When a guy made me a proposal. He wanted something in exchange for a thing I asked. As I pondered on it for a while... He said, we are no longer kids. We are adults. Wow!! I didn’t know when the transition occurred. Just few months back, my parents won’t let me out of their sight. Few months after, I’m asked to make a decision that I shouldn’t even be considering. At what point did the transition occur? I couldn’t believe it! Life doesn’t give you warning signs. One minute you’re a child. The next, you are considering paying for an apartment. The very next minute, you’re seeing two kids around you. Like?! When did this all happen? There are no warnings. No alarms. Nothing. Life happens!! To the best of us. Your best bet is to stay alert. You won’t always have answers. You’d have to get comfortable with that. You would go through some phases multiple times. It’s totally fine. Some people will arrive a destination faster than you. There’s no rush. Just ensure you do what you have to do, as at when due. That one, you owe it to yourself. P.S: What has been your most favorite thing to do as an adult? What has been your least favorite thing to do as an adult? For me, it’s making my own choices. It’s my least and also my most favorite thing. Instagram LogoYou’ve probably heard this saying before now. The secret to being interesting is to become interested in someone else. And this is entirely true. What you are not told however is that interest can not be feigned. It is either there or not. Being genuinely interested in a person begins with a desire to want to know more about the person, beyond what you stand to gain. And here is what you have to do: 1. Have one person you really care about, as the villain of your story. Right now, the person I want to reach out to is Amanda who has struggled to create interesting pieces on Instagram, and keeps getting no positive feedback from her content. 2. Internalize the struggles, pain and joy of your audience (of one) Amanda feels inadequate. Maybe she isn’t cut out for this IG thing. At the point of reading this piece, Amanda is on the verge of deactivating her IG page. 3. Relate with your audience of one. I used to be Amanda, and that’s why I can tell this story so well. But much more is that I can help you solve this recurrent struggle, Amanda. I am willing to go the extra mile for you. 4. Sell your solution Amanda, you just need to care about one person enough, so bad that no matter what happens, you show up for that one person the way I’m showing up for you. 5. Make a call All you need do is connect more deeply with me by sending me a direct message. No one else has access to me this way. But I believe I went through all that so you don’t have to. P.s: Amanda, if you’re here right now reading this piece and you are struggling to connect with your audience, let’s put an end to that. Shall we? My DM is opened to you specially today? P.S2: Your Wednesday isn’t complete if you didn’t get to play games with me.
