Instagram LogoI heard today that someone had said “I think she’s overdoing it, in my honest opinion” about an activity I am in the middle of. My go to response would have been to call them, ask why they said that and then allow whatever their opinions were about it to impact my decision. Why? Because I wouldn’t have wanted to “hurt their feelings”, since I cared so much for them. That was my pattern until..... Today I simply said “really?” smiled to myself, muttered “well that’s your opinion, you’re entitled to it”, and moved right on without giving it a second thought, (at least until now that I’m writing about it). That’s is a form of healing, imagine what that old pattern has cost me in life! If you’re still thinking about healing from past traumas as an abstract idea or something that’s too WooWoo for your religious logic to accept. Ask yourself why your relationship feels like shit, your business isn’t where you need it to be or you’re simply feeling like a leaf in the wind. Instagram Logo“The person that I know will never do that to anyone, never say such mean and hurtful things about you”. I once said this about a person I used to know. And it eventually came back to bite me in the butt ? because they ended up doing just that. Could it be that my judgement of their character was so off or they were just an expert at playing the role of the person I thought I knew? ? So the question to ponder upon today is can you confidently say that you truly, truly know someone? I’m a strong believer in “you see what they want you to see, you know what they want you to know”. I believe the only person you truly know is yourself. In truth, your partner, your children, your best friend, your brothers and sisters that you’re beating your chest for, swearing up and down that you know them to their core? Are you sure about that. I believe the extent to which you know someone has a direct relationship with how much of themselves they’ve revealed to you not how much time you’ve spent with them. A person that appears to be the loudest and bubbliest in your circle of friends may actually be the most introverted, and all they’re doing is simply putting up a facade. Because they’re possibly tired of being made to feel like there’s something wrong with being themselves. I stopped saying “trust me I know this person” a while ago. Because we truly don’t know anyone. We know a version of them we’re comfortable accepting. So how about we accept that what you know is a version of your BFF and there may be many many kore layers there and you may not necessarily like those other later when or if you eventually get to meet them. Is this something you’re willing to consider? . . . . . , . . . . . . . . . . #blackempath #yogateacher #yoga #yogisofcolor #blmrocketyoga #blackyogismatter #africanspirituality #yogastudent #knowbetterdobetterchallenge #colorsofyoga #blackmendoyoga #meditation #yogaforall #yogi #blackyoga #blackhealers #sourcecode #yogapractice #blackvegan #blackgirlmagic #yogaeverydamnday #blackyogi #africanreligions #sistersofyoga #yogaofcolor #blackgirlyoga #yogalove #yogainspiration #happygirlsaretheprettiest #blackyogasuperstars
