The magic of imperfect action

The magic of imperfect action

There's a simple truth I've come to cherish: "Perfectionism is the enemy of progress."

Time and again in life, we find ourselves waiting for the ideal moment. But here's the kicker – it never arrives because, well, there's no such thing as "perfect timing." And what ends up happening is we look back with regret, realizing we squandered the time we had.

When it comes to our fitness, we often convince ourselves that achieving the body and health we desire requires Herculean efforts like working out for 2 hours a day, 6 days a week. And since few of us have that kind of time (who does?), we often wind up doing nothing at all.

This all-or-nothing, unforgiving cycle of inaction and remorse is frequently rooted in limiting beliefs, whispering something like:

- "I'm not good enough..."

- "I don't deserve to invest time in self-care..."

- "I've tried workout plans before, but I always quit because I don't have enough time..."

And, lo and behold, our outcomes – lack of progress, accumulating unwanted weight, and a heavy sense of shame – only serve to reinforce these limiting beliefs.

I've witnessed this scenario unfold countless times.

This is why the notion of imperfect action is so extraordinary.

Start with just a 10-minute workout. Even 10 push-ups or sit-ups will do the trick.

Begin by adding vegetables to one meal.

Then, keep making small choices that nudge you toward better outcomes and change those limiting beliefs.

Here's the kicker – stop striving for perfection. It's the embrace of imperfect action that kindles motivation and propels you forward with momentum.

Remember, it's not motivation that precedes action; it's action that generates motivation. Not the other way around.

So, let's keep it simple: Embrace the beauty of imperfect action, and let it guide you towards progress, one step at a time.
