It Wasn't Working

About 3 months ago, I scheduled a consultation with marketing expert, Mark Schaefer. He's the author of several books on marketing. Good Great books on marketing.


I called him because I needed help. In a nutshell, I didn't feel that my marketing was working. But here's the thing.


My marketing hadn't been working well for months. I should have had a consultation with him much sooner. But I didn't. Why?


I think it was because of my ego.


Specifically, why would a guy (me) who's been told numerous times how good of a marketer he is, need to ask for help?


One more thing.


It's not like I've never asked for help before.


And I'm so glad I did.



Mark Helped Me A Lot

Mark suggested a few changes.


One of things he wanted me to do was change the "About" page on my website. He told me what people want to see when they click to an About page, so I did.


In addition, Mark suggested that I become more active on websites where I could offer my franchise business advice. Websites where younger would-be franchise owners might hang out. I've done that. Not enough, but I've started doing it. And I'm getting some responses.


And because of Mark, and the advice I paid for, the changes I've made are starting to work.

The reason I told you about my experience is twofold (3-fold).


  1. I needed help and I hesitated asking for it. Not smart.
  2. I'm glad I got it-and it was worth the money.
