When I was in university, I made it a habit to meet the career advisors every semester. During my third year, I even cried when I visited the Career Exploration Center to talk to a career advisor because I was so confused about what my future careers would look like (I was at a crossroad then, between wanting to stay in Actuarial Science or switch to Education). But I’m glad I made the decision to talk to multiple people during my time at @uwmadison - from career advisors to professors & the staff at @uw_iss. Talking to different people opened my eyes to the wealth of opportunities available for me after college, and I definitely had tons of support and help in order to best prepare myself for my working life. If you’re currently in university, I urge you to consider making use of your university’s career advice team. Attend any in-house career fairs, join any networking or information sessions, and make the most out of the resources that are available to you. Once you leave university, you’d most probably have to pay for a lot of these services, so might as well use them while you have the chance. People say that when you fail to plan, you are planning to fail. So plan ahead. It’s never to early to start planning ahead for your future, be it retirement, careers, family, or others. Take charge of your life & write your own story. #motivation #careers
