One big thing that I’ve learnt in 2020 is that sometimes, we have to create our own opportunities in the world. Don’t wait for doors to show up on your face or people to tell you to do things - you’ve got to take ownership of your own life & write out the story that is your future. You’ve got to explore the world & experiment. Push yourself out of your comfort zone and into the growth zone. Challenge yourself and do the uncomfortable - because that’s when you’ll learn & grow into a better person.

Met with Azri Nawi, a seasoned HR practitioner and career coach, to talk about @career_57 , my future career goals, & potential partnerships. I’ve always thought of having a stable full-time role as my main source of income & doing my career coaching & guidance as a side business (purely for the fun of it). But having Azri’s input and guidance is invaluable as it forces me to really think about where I see myself in the next ten, fifteen years. Despite all that I’ve done and accomplished this year, I’ve always had this “You need to have a lot more experience in the industry to be a successful career coach” thought at the back of my mind. Even though I *know* that I’m good at what I do (with rooms for improvements, definitely!), I’m always somewhat anxious about being a relatively-young career coach and how it would be perceived by others (especially parents & all!). So having a professional career coach like Azri to guide and mentor me is not just a golden opportunity, but also as a validation that the work that I am doing is of good worth and value. To be seen and visible among the many accomplished coaches out there is a huge accomplishment in and of itself. To many more catch ups like this, & to hopefully (& continously) kicking impostor syndrome’s ass in the future.

Putting this down on Instagram as a reminder to my future self: something that you started as a defense mechanism to help you gain more confidence in yourself can grow to become something much bigger than just a personal project. Who knew that in two years’ time, the #SayWhat newsletter would’ve grown to be what it is now. Definitely did not expect this, but grateful all the same to have so many people on the same journey for personal development together with me. ❤️. Thank you to the people who supported this personal project of mine - to those who sent texts and emails and engaged with the newsletter. I appreciate every single one of you.
