🟩 Speed favors the ones who aren’t afraid to be wrong
Oct 09, 2025 9:41 pm
Hi ,
I used to agonize over decisions.
Even little ones.
Should I launch this now or later?
Should I price it like this or that?
Should I even be doing this at all?
It wasn’t because I was indecisive.
It’s because I was afraid of pain.
The pain of being wrong.
The pain of looking stupid.
The pain of wasting time or money or effort.
So I slowed down. I second-guessed. I overanalyzed.
And you know what happened?
I still made wrong calls.
I just took way longer to make them.
Eventually, I realized something:
The smartest people I knew weren’t avoiding mistakes.
They were planning for them.
They made making mistakes part of the process of progress.
Small bets. Short tests.
Quick launches with room to iterate.
They weren’t braver than me.
They just had higher pain tolerance.
Phil Stutz said it perfectly:
“The more pain you can tolerate, the more you can learn.”
It’s not about enjoying the pain.
It’s about refusing to let it slow you down.
