Last time, I shared how a clunky sign-up experience turned my initial curiosity into suspicion.


Let’s flip that now.


Let’s talk about how to remove friction — and why it matters more than most people think.


Because friction doesn’t always show up as a major issue.

Often, it’s a bunch of little things that quietly wear down trust and momentum.


Here are a few ways to reduce it in your prospect experience:


1. Clear, focused CTAs

Don’t give people five options.

Give them one. Make it obvious. Tell them what happens next.


2. Skip the “prove yourself” phase

Asking people to jump through unnecessary hoops (confirm this, fill that, wait here) makes them question your intentions.

Make it easy to say yes.


3. Automate the basics

If someone signs up for a call, event, or freebie — they should immediately get the info, calendar invite, or resource.

Don’t make them wait or guess. Trust evaporates in silence.


4. Minimize clicks and confusion

Each extra click is a moment to reconsider or drop off.

Make the path from interest to action as short and smooth as possible.


5. Match their level of attention

Most people are distracted when they find you.

They’re skimming. Multitasking.

Design your experience for that person — not the perfectly focused one who reads every word.


Why this matters:

When someone takes a step toward you, even a small one, they’re extending a bit of trust.

Every ounce of friction is a chance to lose it.

But when the experience is smooth, clear, and easy — they feel seen. They feel safe. They move forward.
