A little bit ago I did a panel discussion with the Agile Alliance to help people navigate their technical careers. It was my first panel discussion and I have to admit, I had butterflies in my stomach.

There were so many things I wanted to say, but there is never enough time. The other panelist was a recruiter. I wrote a whole chapter on recruiters in my book, and recently published some cautionary articles on them as well. Needless to day I was careful and diplomatic about what I had to say.

We covered things like:

• Best way to get noticed for an interview
• Negotiation tips
• Interview processes and coding questions
• Technical interviews for non-technical people

🗒️ Observations from a Pandemic

The Corona Virus pandemic isn’t slowing down, but mentally I’ve emerged from hibernation.

It hit hard in April of 2020, and now it’s October.

That is how long it took for me to emerge from the haze of feeling mentally unsettled.
