1 in 4 Companies Reduced Benefits in 2024

Happy Friday!
There are so many things we let ourselves believe about our jobs and careers. Some of it is because of what we were taught by our parents and previous generations, some is what our employers teach, and some is just hope.
But here's the truth: A job is an equitable transaction.
Now, what happens too often is that the job isn't equitable at all, and your employer seems to benefit a lot more from your labor than you do from it. There are cost-saving measures that reduce access to comforts or needed resources. There are economic factors keeping your pay from rising above inflation. There are forces at work that make you wonder how stable your job really is.
A survey from a site called ResumeTemplates.com across 1000+ managers asked them if they'd be reducing benefits, bonuses, or cost-of-living adjustments. In another survey of leadership, they asked if they'd implement RTO polices or others to get people to quit, what kind of people they were hoping to lose.
It might seem like I'm trying to paint companies in a bad light with these surveys, but that isn't the point I'm making.
The point I'm making is that you need to recognize when your employment is no longer equitable, and do something about it.
I've met so many folks who are scared to leave a position that is a bad fit, underpaying, or soulless, because of the unknowns of finding a new job. In a way, the absurdity of the interview process convinces people to stay because it has to be better than interviewing, right?
Well, I think that is something you can fix. You can master getting interviews and getting offers. You can avoid employment that is unbalanced and unsatisfying. You can make use of the freedom and power you've always had.
The wonderous Esther Derby and I are hosting a free webinar on the 18th, where we'll talk about how to apply the research of job satisfaction and how to be more intentional about your next job. I'd love to see you there.
Sincerely,
Ryan
