Hi! I’m Kandi J Wyatt to tell you about a wonderful opportunity. But first, let me explain.

As a mom of five, we often had game night. But we also had the typical problems of game night with kids spanning a gap of thirteen years. There were tears if the youngest was sent home in Sorry or the thief landed on him in Settlers of Catan. I remember my mom telling my siblings and me she’d throw Monopoly away if we couldn’t get along.

And yet, those memories of game nights that worked—where everyone had fun, it was a challenge to see who’d win, and where we just laughed together—are some of my most precious memories.

So, after years of playing games, I decided to make a game. Well, of course, I had to think of all the things that our family loved:

  • Cooperative
  • Ticking clock
  • Characters

So, I built off of games that my family loves: Settlers of Catan,Arkham Horror: the card game, and Magic the Gathering. I used a setting from my books in the Four Stars over Ardatz world and my most recent book, Kristjan’s Rise.

A catastrophic event has happened. When the ground quits shaking, ten scientists emerge from their bomb shelter to discover the world is now always night! They have a month to get their bomb shelter adjusted into an indefinite home.

Using your resource cards, you build rooms, living room, and a kitchen to create a home, but beware the beginning of the day (each round) where you draw event cards that can hinder or help your objective. As the month (game) progresses, more hindering cards will come up.

AVAILABLE VIA KICKSTARTER

The game is available via Kickstarter and ends tomorrow! So, head on over and check it out. You’ll find more information, see videos of it in play, and be able to purchase a copy for your family.

As I’ve watched game play, I’ve discovered it’s great for ages eight and up, and because it’s cooperative, you can help the younger players, which keeps them from quarreling. Instead, they’re actively engaged as they read the cards and try to figure out how to get enough homes before the end of the month.
