Becca Wierwille here! I'm the author of the New Classics featured novel, Road Trip Rescue. Today marks the release of The Case of the Four-Legged Friend, the first book in a new Christian chapter book series!

The Scout and Barnaby Mysteries are funny, heartwarming chapter books for kids ages 6-10 about a girl and her dog who solve mysteries at a Christian wilderness camp using her love of big words and his super sniffer. The books feature several full-page illustrations per book, fun vocab words, whodunit mystery elements, and the chance to laugh together as a family. I write books I feel comfortable sharing with the young readers in my life so you can share them with the young readers in yours.

In this first book, ten-year-old Scout is reading a mystery novel when a dog springs from the forest and steals her dictionary. Then he eats it, page by page. 📖 And everything changes.

Scout doesn’t want to like this dictionary-digesting dog. But somehow he works his way into her heart. (Could it have something to do with the fact that after he eats her dictionary, he seems to understand everything she says? 🤯)

Now she’s on a mission to find where he came from—before the camp director sends him to the animal shelter.
