My Man Still Dumped Me!

Dear

Happy (late) Valentine’s Day to You! đź’•

I’ve been thinking a lot about love lately—not just the romantic kind, but the kind of love that starts with you. And honestly, it’s something I wish I’d learned a lot sooner. So, grab a cup of tea (or coffee, no judgment here), and let me share a little story with you.

A few years ago, I was in a relationship, and like many of us, I wanted to be the “best version of myself” for my partner at the time. I decided to lose weight and get healthier—but here’s the thing: I wasn’t doing it for me. I was doing it because I thought it would make him happy. Spoiler alert: it didn’t end well. I realized too late that I had been pouring all my energy into someone else’s idea of love, while completely neglecting my own health and happiness.

It wasn’t until I hit a breaking point—struggling with my weight, high blood pressure, regular asthma bouts, and just feeling stuck—that I finally decided to choose myself. And let me tell you, that was the best decision I ever made. It wasn’t easy (trust me, I had my fair share of late-night cravings and “I’ll start tomorrow” moments), but it was worth it.

This Valentine’s Day, I want to remind you that the most important relationship you’ll ever have is the one with yourself. Loving yourself isn’t selfish—it’s necessary. It’s about making choices that honor your health, your happiness, and your worth. Whether that’s taking a walk, cooking a nourishing meal, or simply saying “no” to something that doesn’t serve you, it all counts.

So, as we celebrate love this season, I hope you’ll take a moment to show yourself some love too. You deserve it. And if you’ve been putting off taking care of your health, let this be your sign to start. Not for anyone else—just for YOU.

Wishing you a Valentine’s season filled with love, joy, and maybe a little dark chocolate (because balance, right?).

With all my heart,

Dr. Chinasa Amadi

P.S. If you’ve been struggling with your health journey, know that you’re not alone. I’ve been there, and I’m rooting for you every step of the way. Let’s make this Valentine’s Day the start of something beautiful—for YOU.
