Can you believe it’s been twenty years since Sweet Home Alabama came out? Glacier Cinema in Juneau, Alaska – Doug and Kris’s hometown – will be hosting a free 20th anniversary screening of the movie at 10 am on July 2. Doug will be doing a brief Q&A afterwards. Doug also has a book signing (for the Felony Melanie books and Totally Rad Wormhole)on July 2 at 2 pm at Hearthside Books in the Nugget Mall and maybe a second signing on the 3rd at Fisherman’s Wharf. If you’re in Juneau that weekend, come say Hi!
Southernism of the Week: “Like the skunk said when the wind changed: I knew it would come back to me.” From You All Spoken Here by Roy Wilder.
It's summer and it's hot (in the northern hemisphere, at least)! Try to stay cool, even if you feel like Panda the ferret:
Southern Treat of the Week: Southerners love their barbecue, including whole-hog pork sandwiches and racks of ribs. In "How Pulled Pork Took Over the South," Robert Moss discusses the history and weeps over the kudzu-like spread of pulled pork.

Kris practices her writing - no, wait, that's riding skills.
Kris’s Voice-recognition mistake of the day: "This, cylindrical sleeve having a bank account based in another state."
I actually said, "Yes, I wonder about having …" The rest of the sentence was correct. I don't know how that became a cylindrical sleeve. 🤔
Reviews help readers find great books, and they help authors keep writing. They can be short: ReadingForRelaxation gave Felony Melanie in Pageant Pandemonium 5 stars and said, “Laugh out loud funny with high school hi-jinx and beauty pageant drama — and hi-jinx there too. It is inspiring how Melanie is laid back, quick thinking, and adaptable when things go wrong.”
If you’ve read Felony Melanie in Pageant Pandemonium, please leave a review on Amazon or another site, or recommend it to your friends. Review it on Amazon here.
