WHAT I’M DOING

***I’m making excellent progress on the first Comfy Cat mystery, COMFY CORNER DINER, and I’m past the half-way point. It’s due Nov. 1^st and I don’t think I’ll have a problem getting it in on time. This is the series featuring a version of the family cat, Daisy.

WHAT I SHOULD BE DOING

***I’m doing it! I’m drinking plenty of water and taking my stoopid antibiotic, which I have to be on until September. I don’t like it, but I got a good surprise last week. I finally got my hair cut—it’s been ages. And my hairdresser noticed that I’m having new growth in a spot affected by lichen planopilaris—for years now. And, my hair seems thicker to her. It’s a yucky condition, but it only affects my scalp and my appearance. And I hide it pretty well.

WHAT’S COMING UP NEXT

***As I said above, the Imogene Duckworthy books, some of them self-published, will be reissued by the publisher MistiMedia, White City Press imprint. Same covers, being redone by the same cover artist, Karen at Phillipscovers.com, but new size. Maybe easier to handle.

***That cover reveal is getting closer. SOMEONE IS OUT THERE, my new suspense novel, will be available for preorder August 4^th. I’m looking forward to being featured on Dru’s Musings with a Day in the Life of one of the characters. Dru recently got a new knee and I’m happy to say that it’s been going really well for her.

SOMETHING SAD

The mystery community lost a lovely woman and a talented writer a few days ago. Judy Alter succumbed to cancer after a short, sudden illness, according to her children. Judy was an acclaimed writer of Westerns before she turned to mysteries. She also worked at TCU Press, so she knew about many aspects of writing and publishing. I met her at a Texas conference years ago and spent the day with her. She was easy to get to know. We were both from the Chicago area, transplanted to Texas, so we had that in common. Many of us will miss her for a long time. She published a new book very recently.
