SP1 N1 StarDate 2024.0428 - The Problem Is...
Apr 28, 2024 9:35 pm
(The StarDate represents my commitment to reflect…regularly. Maybe not EVERY week, but from time to time, I’ll send ya something that describes what’s on my heart…and my mind. Thank you for reading…)
Hiya!
This will be my second Sunday living in South Pasadena. You’ll notice that I’ve added SP to the subject line. The SP represents where we are in ‘place,’ and the N represents time.
As long as we’re in this place, I’ll keep the “SP#.”
On My Mind: “Writing about one problem often exposes others that are more important.”
This line was in today’s Farnam Street newsletter. I’m STILL thinking about it. Throughout May, expect me to do a LOT more writing about the problem(s). (Also, expect me to make a BIG deal out of my 1st anniversary with the USSF!)
Working on the first “solution” presented (after a problem has been stated) is (most often) the easiest thing to do; however, it might not be the best in terms of the long term.
“The problem may not be what you think it means… inconceivable.”
Over the next month, I’ll spend more time “in” the problems than “on” them. If you have a model/framework/template to use that helps gain clarity, please send it over.
I’m about to dive into 37 minutes of research on Ishikawa (or "fishbone") diagrams. How is it that I’m just getting to learn about Kaoru Ishikawa today? He developed this method in the 1960s…
