Sasha had been lost in her own mind for so long that she could feel her soul slipping from her body, and she knew that if she didn't find herself soon, there would be nothing left to save. She walked through the forest as far as she could go. She was growing desperate—and hungry—when she saw a light shining from between two trees at the edge of the forest. "Hello?" Sasha called tentatively. "Is there someone there?" There was no answer, but the light grew brighter until Sasha could see that it was coming from a small house with an open door. She crept forward and peered inside: there was no furniture or decoration in sight, just one man sitting cross-legged on the floor with his eyes closed and his hands resting on his knees. He looked so peaceful that Sasha didn't want to disturb him—but then again, he looked like he might have food somewhere around here… "Excuse me," said Sasha timidly. "Can I bother you for some food?" The man opened one eye and squinted at her before closing it again with a sigh. She stood there for a moment, unsure what to do next. "I'm sorry," she said finally. "Maybe it was rude of me to disturb you." The man opened his other eye and looked at her again; this time he seemed a little more awake. "No no, it's not rude at all," he said. "I'm glad you stopped by." He paused for a moment, as if considering something. "I don't know what I'd do without visitors these days." She reached her hand out to the man, who took it and shook it politely. "My name's Sasha," she said. "What's yours?" The man smiled at her and took a moment to answer. Finally he spoke, his voice soft and gentle; but there was an edge of sadness to it too. "River," the man said. Relieved, Sasha smiled and sat down on the floor next to him.
