The Spray Bottle That Changed How I Think About Coaching

Feb 09, 2026 8:31 am

My partner just needed a simple kitchen spray bottle. Shouldn't be a problem, right?

But within a few uses, the spray mechanism completely broke. Wouldn't spray anymore. Straight in the bin.

So she ordered another one.

Different brand, better reviews, slightly more expensive.

Same thing happened. The spray mechanism gave up the ghost after a couple of weeks.

Back to Amazon for round three.

This time, I was actually there when it arrived. We opened it up, gave it a go, and it broke in exactly the same way.

The spray mechanism just stopped working. Third time. Third failure.

And here's what really got me thinking: this wasn't a freak accident. This was a pattern.

It made me realise something we probably all feel these days, whether we admit it or not.

So many things just aren't built to last anymore. They're designed to be replaced. Over and over again.

Buy it, use it briefly, throw it away, buy the next one. It's almost like the whole system is designed around that cycle.

It's frustrating with a spray bottle. But when you step back and look at the bigger picture? It's everywhere.

Quick fixes. Band-aid solutions. Things that promise results but fall apart the moment life gets complicated.

And that's exactly what made me reflect on what I do differently with my coaching.

The thing is, I don't believe in that model. Not for cycling, not for your health, and definitely not for your confidence.

My coaching isn't designed to be something you rely on forever, constantly buying the next program or the next quick fix. It's not built that way.

Instead, it's built to last.

When we work together, you're not just getting a training plan you follow blindly. You're learning the actual skills to programme your own training.

You're understanding nutrition properly, not just following a restrictive diet that falls apart when you get busy. You're learning why things work, not just what to do.

That's the difference.

That's how you get lasting results. Real progress in your cycling. Genuine improvements in your health.

Confidence that sticks around even when life throws curveballs at you. Because you've got the knowledge and the systems to handle it.

You're not dependent on the next program. You're not waiting for the next solution. You've got the tools to keep going.

So if you're tired of short-term fixes that break the moment things get difficult, I'd like to chat.

If you're looking for something that actually sticks — something built to last — let's have a proper conversation about what that could look like for you.

Book a call with me.

We'll talk through where you are now, what you're trying to achieve, and whether I can help you build something that genuinely lasts.

Talk soon,

Neil
