Oops, I Climbed It Again: Turning Mistakes into Motivation
Jul 28, 2025 5:25 pm
As we approached Hubbards, reality started to sink in. You should've seen the looks on Pete and Paul's faces when they realised what was coming. Let's just say I might not be in charge of route planning for a while!
But you know what? Despite my little "oversight," we actually had a fantastic ride.
There's something about conquering those climbs, feeling the burn in your legs, and pushing through the challenge that makes it all worthwhile.
And let me tell you, packing in lots of climbing within a short distance? That's some serious training gold right there.
As we climbed those hills, even the tough Hubbards, I was surprised to notice my legs felt great. It got me thinking about the training I've been doing lately.
You see, over the past few weeks, I've been incorporating some more intense interval sessions into my training programme.
Nothing too crazy, just some structured workouts designed to boost my performance. And you know what? It's working!
In just a few weeks of more structured training, you'll start to notice a real difference in your cycling performance.
Those hills that used to leave you gasping? Suddenly, they're not quite so daunting. That extra burst of speed you've been chasing? It starts to come more naturally.
The takeaway? Apart from double-checking your routes (learn from my mistakes!), Consistent, structured training can make a world of difference in your cycling.
But here's the thing – I know what you're thinking.
"That sounds great, but I barely have time to squeeze in my regular rides, let alone plan out a training programme!"
