Sep 04, 2025 3:17 pm
Hi !
September always feels like a gentle turning point. The long, bright days of summer fade into crisp mornings, earlier sunsets, and the comforting rhythms of routine returning.
This month’s theme is all about going Back to Basics. After a season of spontaneity and travel, it’s the perfect time to re-anchor ourselves in the simple, foundational practices that support both body and mind.
Nourishing meals, steady rhythms, mindful pauses, and intentional choices, these are the small steps that create lasting wellbeing. This month’s collection is here to help you reconnect with those basics, so you can enter autumn feeling grounded, nourished, and at ease.

🍽 Recipe of the Month
Roasted Autumn Vegetables with Tahini & Fermented Lemon Dressing
As the season shifts, the markets fill with earthy root vegetables, sweet squashes, and dark leafy greens. This dish celebrates the harvest with gut-friendly fibre, grounding nourishment, and a zesty probiotic kick.
Ingredients (Serves 4):
- 1 small butternut squash, peeled and cubed
- 3 carrots, cut into batons
- 2 beetroots, peeled and chopped
- 1 red onion, cut into wedges
- 2 tbsp ghee
- Sea salt & pepper
Dressing:
- 2 tbsp tahini
- 1 tbsp finely chopped fermented lemon (or preserved lemon)
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1–2 tbsp water to loosen
- Pinch of cumin
Instructions:
- Heat oven to 200°C (400°F). Toss vegetables with ghee, salt, and pepper. Spread on a tray and roast for 35–40 minutes until caramelised and tender.
- Whisk together the dressing ingredients until smooth. Adjust with water to desired consistency.
- Drizzle dressing over warm vegetables, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve.
Why this works:
Autumn vegetables are rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and prebiotic fibres that feed a healthy gut. The tahini adds brain-boosting healthy fats, while fermented lemon brings probiotics and zing, linking gut health to mood and energy.
📚 Book of the Month
Fibre Menace by Konstantin Monastyrsky
This controversial and thought-provoking book challenges the long-held belief that more fibre is always better. Monastyrsky explores how excessive or poorly digested fibre can cause bloating, discomfort, and even worsen gut issues, and why bio-individuality matters when it comes to digestion.
While you may or may not agree with all of his conclusions, it’s an important reminder to listen to your body, question nutritional dogma, and focus on truly supportive foods for your unique gut.
🧘 Meditation of the Month
Letting Go of Shame and Reclaiming Worthiness
Shame is one of the heaviest burdens we can carry, it weighs on the mind, the body, and even the gut. This meditation offers a compassionate space to release shame, soften into self-acceptance, and remember your deep worth.
🌀 Reflection
Back to basics is not about doing more. It’s about simplifying.
When life feels scattered, the simplest rituals often bring the greatest peace:
- A home-cooked meal with seasonal ingredients
- A few mindful breaths before starting your day
- A gentle walk in crisp morning air
- Choosing sleep over another late-night scroll
These are not grand gestures, but they are powerful ones. They bring your body back into rhythm, your mind back into presence, and your gut-brain connection back into harmony.
