Welcome to our March newsletter, where we blend mindfulness with our nutrient-dense traditions, and celebrate the incredible mums in our lives this Mother’s Day. In the UK we celebrate it on 30 March 2025.
This month, our theme is Mindful Eating – a gentle reminder to slow down, savour each bite, and allow our meals to become a meditative practice. Just as mindful breathing nurtures our mental well-being, being fully present during meals supports digestion and helps our gut flourish.
🍽️ Nourishing Mother’s Day : A GAPS Diet Celebration for Mum
Discover my latest blog post, where I share a GAPS-friendly menu for Mother’s Day. This celebration of wholesome, gut-healing foods artfully combines Middle Eastern flavours with traditional Western European ingredients. It’s a perfect way to show mum some love while nourishing your body from the inside out.

🍬 GAPS Friendly Mother’s Day Treat: Almond-Cardamom Date Bites
Treat mum (or yourself) to these delightful, nutrient-dense Almond-Cardamom Date Bites. It is a perfect GAPS-friendly indulgence.
Ingredients:
• 200 g (7 oz) pitted Medjool dates
• 100 g (3.5 oz) raw almonds
• 50 g (1.75 oz) raw cashews
• Zest of 1 organic orange
• ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
• ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
• 1 teaspoon rosewater
• A pinch of sea salt
• Approximately 50 g (1.75 oz) unsweetened shredded coconut, for rolling
Instructions:
- Place the dates in a food processor and blend until they form a sticky paste.
- Add the almonds, cashews, orange zest, cardamom, cinnamon, rosewater, and sea salt. Pulse until the mixture is well combined but still retains a bit of texture.
- Scoop small portions of the mixture and roll them into bite-sized balls. Then, gently roll each ball in unsweetened shredded coconut.
- Chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavours to meld and the bites to firm up.
Why This Works:
These treats offer a nutrient-dense burst of energy, perfect for supporting gut health. The dates and nuts deliver natural sweetness and fats, while the aromatic cardamom, zesty orange, and delicate rosewater add a sophisticated, festive twist. Wonderful for celebrating Mother’s Day with a mindful, indulgent treat.
