A gentle look inside the Coming Home to Yourself Journal
Dec 15, 2025 12:01 am
Hello ,
As the Coming Home to Yourself Digital Journal Experience launches tomorrow, I’d like to share a little more about what’s inside - not as a checklist, but as an invitation.
This journal isn’t meant to be rushed or completed perfectly. It’s designed to meet you exactly where you are in this season, in this body, in this moment.
The structure is simple, but intentional.
Each theme builds on the next, gently guiding you back to yourself.
The journal begins with emotional literacy. You’ll be introduced to nearly fifty emotion words, expanding your language for what you feel, so you can better identify, name, and understand your inner world. Naming is often the first step toward healing.
🌿 Theme One: Recognizing Yourself
This is where the journey begins.
Before we can make changes, we must first know who is already here. This section is an invitation to meet your present self honestly, gently, and without judgment.
Here, you’re invited to:
- notice yourself
- name what you’ve been carrying silently
- reconnect with your inner signals, your body, your intuition, your truth
Through my research and clinical work, I’ve learned that awareness is not a passive state.
It is the first act of self-trust.
🍃 Theme Two: Releasing Perfection
Perfection is a cage built from other people’s expectations.
Many of us were taught that resilience means endurance.
That strength looks like pushing through.
That rest must be earned.
This section gently challenges those stories.
You’ll be invited to:
- confront the identities and labels you’ve internalized (including the “strong Black woman”)
- loosen your grip on perfection
- make room for imperfection, humanity, and messiness
Releasing isn’t failure.
It’s discernment.
🔥 Theme Three: Reclaiming Your Story
Many of us have learned to tell our stories in ways that minimize our own needs or prioritize the comfort of others. But your story becomes medicine when you tell it in your own voice.
This section is about taking your story back.
You’ll explore:
- which parts of your story were silenced or reshaped
- where you learned to shrink or harden
- how to name your experiences with honesty and compassion
Reclaiming your story doesn’t change the past; it changes your relationship to it.
🌱 Theme Four: Rooting in Wholeness
The final section is about integration.
Wholeness is not a destination; it’s a practice of home. Not becoming someone new but rooting yourself in the truth that you are already whole.
Here, you’ll focus on:
- building sustainable practices that support your nervous system
- defining resilience in ways that feel nourishing rather than depleting
- grounding yourself in values, boundaries, and self-trust
Wholeness isn’t something you arrive at.
It’s something you practice.
🧠 Why This Structure Matters
These themes are not arbitrary. They are grounded in my doctoral research on resilience and wellness, my clinical work as an EMDR trauma therapist, and years of observing what actually helps people heal without burning out.
Resilience isn’t linear.
But it is relational.
This journal was designed to honor that truth.
🌱 A Gentle Reminder
You don’t need to do this all at once.
You don’t need to get it “right.”
You just need a place to return to.
The Coming Home to Yourself Digital Journal Experience launches tomorrow, Monday, December 15, 2025.
