How are the Money Ghosts robbing you of your earning potential?

#382 – How is your time management robbing you of your earning potential?

And no, you don't need to work more in order to make more money. What you need is to stop giving your time away for things that don't benefit you in a clear sense.

Whoa, how selfish, you think. Think again.

The Ghost of Giving Your Time Away (GoGYTA), like its colleagues and boss (your Ego and the other 11 ghosts), believe rejection is fatal.

To persuade you to always seek approval, it makes you say 'yes' to everything you're asked.

"Can you walk the dog because I'm watching this tennis game?"

"Sure (even though I'd planned to attend the book club's call)!"

"Can you come with me to the event on Saturday because I don't want to go alone?"

"Sure (even though I wanted to work on my book all day Saturday)!"

"Will you volunteer to write the guidelines for this project because I'm so busy"

"Sure (even though I'm equally busy and this won't increase my visibility, skill, or paycheck)!"

The result: you pack your days with things that don't fill up your cup or your wallet.

You know that saying 'yes' goes against your best interest, but you do it anyway because the GoGYTA dangles the "people don't like selfish brats" threat above your head. The "she'll be sad if you say no." The "he'll be mad if you say no."

Wake up! You're being coaxed into putting everyone else's wants above yours––because that's what "nice people" do, the GoGYTA says.

But when you commit to taking care of yourself before trying to be "nice" to the whole world, you're telling yourself that you matter, thus increasing your self-esteem, decision-making power, and self-determination.

Then, feeling powerful inside, you can help others––if you want.

What will you say no to, to regain your personal power?

Love,

Carolina
