Happy November!

Hello, my darlings,
October has somehow passed us by far too quickly! It feels like November now after a lot of summer-ish days in October, which is nice. I'm not loving the bite of chilly wind when I take morning walks, but I am enjoying the fall colors surrounding me and the scent of fall in the air. And then all the cozy baking I'm doing—how much pumpkin bread (and other pumpkin recipes!) can I make in one season? We'll soon see. I hope you're enjoying the season and that you had lots of spooky fun on Halloween (or at least enjoyed your candy!).
This October had another important day in it for me, my tenth anniversary as a published author. Of course, because I am a somewhat ridiculous person, I almost forgot about it and then when I remembered, I wasn't certain how to mark the day or what to say about it (If you'd like to know, I ended up buying nail polish. Mooncat was having a sale and now my nails are painted a purply shade called Freshly Bitten. Yes, somewhat ridiculous but I do love the color. Anyway.). Ten years is big! And there have been a lot of ups and downs, achievements and disappointments in that time. I'm still not entirely sure what to say other than thank you to all of you, my beloved readers. I appreciate you more than you can know. And if you haven't read the book that made me a published author, check out The Prince's Consort here.
I'm making progress on To Know a Dragon Spy, the second Dragons of Ivria book. I'm revising/editing now, and I'm going to work as quickly as possible to get this book into shape and to you. It's kind of a (big) mess right now, but I expected that with the way writing has gone lately. More news on that front as soon as I have it.
The usual things are all below, including lots of book recs. Check out the links to my blog if you'd like some recs for books with asexual characters or if Spooky Season has not ended for you (I'm a bit spooky all year long) and you'd like some more recs with that vibe.

To Love the Dragon King
Once upon a time, before the hunts, dragons were plentiful in the world. Now they exist only in legend…except in the land of Ivria.

I'm about halfway through Strange Beasts as I write this newsletter, and I'm enjoying tremendously. It's a bit of a mash-up—sapphic, historical fantasy, gothic mystery. It imagines the daughter of Mina Harker from Dracula and the daughter of Professor Moriarty from Sherlock Holmes as investigators of paranormal mysteries partnered here for the first time and quite distrustful of each other. I can already tell I'm going to be impatiently waiting for book two.

If you're done with Spooky Season and ready to transition into Thanksgiving season, try Tommy Cabot Was Here. It's a 1959-set historical second chance queer romance novella that is so lovely and heartfelt.
