Realistically, what are your dreams?

Folks,
Realistically, what are your dreams?” a reporter asked Rob McElhenney, co-owner of the newly promoted Wrexham FC.
Yes, it’s an oxymoron, but it’s also a reminder – “Start by doing what is necessary, then what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible,” a saying attributed to Saint Francis of Assisi.
If you’re not sure what the next step towards your dream is, try sorting what you think you need to do into three piles: necessary, possible, and impossible. Then, go from there.
I ran a coach workshop for a group of esports coaches on Monday, and I used a cooperative learning technique called “Think – Pair – Share.”
First of all, coaches write down their notes on a prompt – I led with: “As coaches, we want to stand out and fit in. Why do you think writing a coaching manifesto is overlooked and undervalued?”
Then you pair up and talk it through. In my experience, it’s hard work for the teacher, facilitator, or coach to develop the workshop, but running it is a dream. All the work is done up front.
I’m going to leave you with one of my favourite lines about opinions from the comedian Ian Stone:
“All my opinions are just opinions that I have heard.” Maybe it’s time to get your own!
Have a great week,
Simon
