👋🏽 ¡Hola, !
¡Buenas tardes! It's officially spooky season but don't be afraid, sin miedo al éxito, in this week's

PICTURE: 📸
Another capture-worthy moment while on my morning walk.
I took a picture of this old dirt-filled bag of rice with sunflowers growing out of it. It looks like it may have been used to save a parking spot, the car itself also looks like it's been there a while. The colors, textures, and concept of life pushing through even when abandoned felt like a shareable visual. What do you think?
OPTIMISM: 💖
A proverb in español:
"No tengas miedo de fracasar, ten miedo de no intentarlo."
(Don't be afraid to fail, be afraid not to try.)
— Mexican Proverb
COOL FIND: 🕵🏽♂️
This Día de los Muertos, let's honor the furry friends who brought joy to our lives by placing their photo on a special ofrenda at the local animal shelters:
San Diego County Animal Services says the altars will be decorated with marigolds, candles, and treats for pets who have "crossed the Rainbow Bridge," providing a moment to remember the love that they gave. Stop by the South Shelter in Bonita or the North Shelter in Carlsbad from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. 🐶🌼
HOMEWORK: 📝
Family Storytelling: Share stories about your ancestors and their contributions to your bicultural identity. Use this time to gather photos that you might think would look great as part of an ofrenda for the upcoming Día de Muertos.
OTHER STUFF: 📢
You may or may not remember me mentioning my involvement with BOCÓN. The local nonprofit just turned six, officially, although the organization was conceived and has been doing good work since 2010. Bocón is a community arts organization that provides inclusive and accessible arts education and multicultural theater programs for youth and family audiences.
I gush when describing the organization's growth and am grateful to my high school theatre friend (and prom date) Crystal Mercado-Rosure for involving me from the start!
