👋🏽 Hey ¿¡Que pasa, !?

It's finally spring and finally Friday, so many changes! One thing remains constant:

The P.O.C.H.O. Stuff Email

Algo bien for a fun Friday.

PICTURE: 📸

I took a picture of the signs left behind after the women's march in Mexico City.

El Zocalo serves as the town square and end point of major marches and parades due to its proximity to the presidential palace. I must admit, like France, Mexico does protests right! From street closures, barricades, public transport reroutes, and crowd control efforts, the city is ready for demonstrations and the citizens are active, loud, and proud to demand change.

OPTIMISM: 💖

A quote from an iconic latina:

“At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can.”

— Frida Kahlo

COOL FIND: 🕵🏽‍♂️

imageI've been hanging out with my bad-ass tía and found this other talented tía that I wanted to share with you. Meet the legend Sandra “Payton” Romero, a 57 year-young football phenom. Sandra is from a small town outside of Mexico City but has some pretty big accomplishments! Doña Romero has had the opportunity to represent Team Mexico as a starting quarterback in 11 different flag football world games!

See her in action on Instagram.

HOMEWORK: 📝

Bicultural Sports Day: The Padres were in Korea, la Selección Nacional de México beat Panama yesterday, and the San Diego Aztecs kick off their March Madness appearance today at 10:45 am! Organize a friendly sports competition with family and friends, featuring games from both Mexican and American cultures. It's a fun way to bond and learn about traditional sports. 🏀⚽

OTHER STUFF: 📢

imageThis week, other stuff on my mind includes FOOD, friends, music, and WINE...and nothing captures all of those things better than this weekend's long-awaited Mainly Mozart, Culinary Concerto! My good friend Chef Claudia Sandoval is working with the team that has brought together 24 internationally renowned chefs and winemakers to collaborate on an unforgettable evening of music and culinary delight. The event is sold out (yey) but I wanted to shout out the efforts, and volunteers who work towards events like this one! I also wanted to ask you, , do you know of any upcoming volunteer opportunities?

As always THANK YOU for opening and reading my messages and congrats for making it all the way down here, I am truly grateful. I hope you enjoyed today's POCHO Stuff email see you next week!
