👋🏽 ¡Hola hola, !
¡Buenas tardes, squirl friends! I'm enjoying the chilly evenings and rain in Mexico City as San Diego temps scorch the coast and inland. Condragulations on extending the summer! Let's dive right into this week's:
P.O.C.H.O. Stuff Email
Algo bien for a fun Friday.

PICTURE: 📸
A shot of the San Diego Union Tribune's profile of notable local people:
I stole this picture from Bocón's Instagram account, it features the Artistic Director/ founder, and my good friend Crystal Mercado Rosure in a fun Q&A about the organization and her too. I was fortunate to be a founding board member and now formally work with Bocón on marketing communications. It's a joy to spread the word about the work they...er, WE are doing! Read the UT article where Crystal shares some wisdom from RuPaul too! 🤭
OPTIMISM: 💖
"The sun is a daily reminder that we too can rise again from the darkness, that we too can shine our own light."
— S. Ajna
COOL FIND: 🕵🏽♂️
Did you know that in the last election, BIPOC voters made up nearly 40% of the electorate? But turnout can still be inconsistent. My friend and Pocho Stuff supporter Lindsay Lashell reached out to invite us (that's me AND you, !) to join her postcarding campaign with Reclaim Our Vote to help encourage our communities to vote this fall! All you need is a little time, labels, and some postage—they've got the postcards. Postcards have to be in the mail by Oct 15 so sign up here today to receive all the details to get started. Let’s make sure every voice is heard this election season!
HOMEWORK: 📝
Bicultural Nature Scavenger Hunt: Organize a bicultural nature scavenger hunt in your backyard or a nearby park, featuring items and clues that reflect both Mexican and American cultures. Explore the outdoors with friends or family while learning about nature and cultural diversity! 🔍🌿
OTHER STUFF: 📢
I am admittedly bad at keeping up with Queer culture, but I'm working on keeping up with the young as I creep into my forties. Enter my very late discovery of "RuPaul's Drag Race!"
This week I finished the latest season, which aired earlier this year, and was excited to see so many Latine queens in the cast of season 16. A total of SIX contestants vying for the crown during this historic season with a fusion of cultures and Queer excellence, redefining the drag landscape. Seprately, the Drag Race Mexico Season 2 finale was last night, and this weekend, I will attempt to binge both temporadas. Wish me luck!
You already know I really really enjoy saying THANK YOU for opening and reading my emails. I am truly grateful for your attention! I hope you enjoyed today's POCHO Stuff Email. Let me know if you watch Drag Race or shame me for just getting into it. ha. See ya next week, have an incredible weekend!
Con mucho love,
Tony U

P.S. Remember you can always tell me what you think or suggest what to tell other pochos...it's your space too! Respond to this or any email from me, I read each one out loud --my neighbors think I'm weird.
