Happy Healthy Holidays & Tips too!

Nov 25, 2025 12:46 pm

While it feels like November just started, here we are already stepping into Thanksgiving week. As I talk with many of you, one theme keeps coming up.

Food.

This season is full of events, feasts and family gatherings that revolve around food and drinks. In all my years of coaching, one of my favorite things to teach is how to navigate the holidays with confidence. You can prepare well, stay healthy and still enjoy the people around you. It really is possible to enjoy the festivities and stay aligned with your goals at the same time.

Before the pace picks up, I want to share a few simple and realistic strategies to help you feel your best this season without guilt, restriction or the pressure of starting over in January.

10 Simple Holiday Strategies to Help You Stay Healthy and Still Enjoy the Season

1. The 1, 2, 3 Plate Strategy

Skip the food rules and build your plate with one protein, two veggies and three bites of anything that brings you joy. It keeps your energy steady without losing the holiday magic.

2. Hydrate Before the Holidays Happen

A little hydration goes a long way. Drink a big glass of water before you leave home and sip between treats and drinks. Your digestion and next day energy will thank you.

3. Protect Your Morning Routine

Choose one morning habit to protect no matter how busy life gets. Prayer time, a five minute stretch, a quick walk or a protein filled breakfast can anchor your whole day.

4. Choose the Treats Worth Having

Not every treat is memorable. Pick the ones you truly enjoy and skip the rest. This is satisfaction, not restriction.

5. Move in Ways That Feel Good

This is not the season for punishment workouts. Try walking, stretching, dancing while you cook or a simple living room flow. Small enjoyable movement adds up.

6. Guard Your Energy

A gentle reminder. You are allowed to set boundaries. Try “Let me check my schedule” before saying yes. Take a sixty second reset when you need to regroup.

7. Do Not Arrive Starving

A simple pre event snack like yogurt, fruit with nut butter or a protein shake helps you show up calm, grounded and not ravenous.

8. A Gentle Alcohol Strategy

If you choose to drink, alternate with water and set a soft limit that supports how you want to feel tomorrow. Think enjoy now and wake up well.

9. Prioritize Sleep When You Can

Consistency beats perfection. Even a mostly steady bedtime supports cravings, mood and energy.

10. The Good Enough Rule

Aim for one nourishing meal, one moment of movement and one mindful choice each day. That is enough. You do not need all or nothing.

Final Thought

The holidays are not a test of willpower. They are a chance to practice supportive habits with joy and flexibility. You do not need perfection. You only need presence, intention and compassion.

You have got this.
