Press Release

Introducing the 2024 Swimrun Season with British Swimrun's Innovative Ranking System.

British Swimrun, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting and developing the sport of Swimrun across the British Isles, is thrilled to announce the launch of a new ranking system for the 2024 Swimrun season. Developed in collaboration with Swimrun event organisers throughout the British Isles, this innovative ranking system aims to elevate the sport and recognise the achievements of participants across different distances and categories.

The new ranking system, now available on British Swimrun's website, introduces four distinct distance categories: Short, Middle, Long, and Ultra. Participants, whether competing individually or in teams, will earn points for each affiliated race they complete. Categories are divided into female and male individuals, as well as female, male, and mixed teams.

Designed to celebrate both participation and performance, the ranking system provides a comprehensive framework for recognising athletes' achievements throughout the season. Detailed information on point allocation and distance categories can be found at  https://britishswimrun.org/british-rankings/

For participants who completed a swimrun in 2023, the Solo Pilot Rankings and Team Pilot Rankings showcase the points they would have earned, based on publicly available results.

To be recognised in the 2024 British Swimrun rankings, participants are required to register for a free British Swimrun ID. Registration is open now at  https://britishswimrun.org/register/  .

All affiliated swimrun organisers have committed to accepting British Swimrun IDs, including for participants who have already registered for races. Participants need only share their British Swimrun ID(s) with event organisers at registration, or post registration for those who have already entered a race. Post-race, event organisers will provide British Swimrun with participants' IDs and points for seamless integration into the ranking system.

"We're incredibly excited to launch British Swimrun and the introduction of these rankings," said Gary Pavitt, of British Swimrun. "We look forward to seeing swimrunners from across the British Isles being recognised for their dedication and passion for the sport throughout the season."
