Why Eating Clean Isn’t Always the Answer to Gut Healing
Apr 15, 2025 5:06 am
Hey
Can I share something that might surprise you?
Sometimes, eating “too clean” can actually stress your gut. Yes, really. I know it feels like you’re doing everything right - avoiding sugar, dairy, gluten, processed food - but if it’s making you feel anxious, isolated, or constantly tired… it’s not helping. It could be hurting.
This pattern is more common than you think. It’s called orthorexia — the pressure to eat perfectly all the time. And it doesn’t just affect your mind, it affects your gut. Your gut needs balance, not extremes. It needs peace, joy, and food freedom just as much as it needs nutrients.
So today, I just want you to ask yourself this:
“Am I eating to heal… or to feel in control?”
One small step?
Try doing one of these - today:
- Eat something you’ve been avoiding just because of fear, not fact
- Sit down for a meal without checking labels, just trusting your body
- Share a treat with a friend without guilt
- Let yourself enjoy a warm homemade meal instead of raw salads, if that’s what feels good
- Remind yourself: You are not your food choices - you are more, always
If this hits home, I’d love to talk about what balance can look like for you,
