Before you get schooled by skool
Feb 05, 2024 7:58 am
Hey there!
So for some time there's been a lot of noise in my space about Alex Hormozi investing in a community platform called skool.
The gist is that he'll probably make a 100 billion from that platform...
That's possible...
But here's what I want you to understand before you get overwhelmed by the promotion crafted to get you to join skool...
There's a sequence to building community...
And it's...
- Get Clients
- Get Customers
- Build an audience
Can the process be reversed?
Yes...
But only if.....
You can leverage other people's influence to build an audience around a central idea...
Or...
You've got the money to leverage paid ads...
Or...
You have some kind of media platform that you effectively leverage
The key word in all this is: LEVERAGE.
Without leverage...
The process is painfully slow...
And if you don't already have a steady source of income...
It's a very foolish way to play the game.
So what do you do?
Follow the fundamental sequence...
- Get clients first
- Get customers
- Build the audience
Now please note...
This only makes sense if you're playing the practice game.
If you're playing the influencer game...
A totally different set of rules apply.
Understand the game that you're playing.
Don't mix games.
Why is this sequence so important?
First...
Getting clients validates your message and you capacity to lead. These clients in turn form the core of your community.
Treat them well and they will multiply themselves....bringing to you others just like them and soon you'll have a waiting list of potential clients.
Lead them well and they will expose you to opportunities for radically magnifying your influence...opportunities that you currently don't qualify for or have the awareness to even recognize.
Second....
Getting customers gives you the opportunity to build a base of true fans.
Now in the Community Mastery Methodâ„¢, a true fan is defined as someone who invests TIME AND MONEY in moving towards the future you have promised.
This is a critical distinction because ultimately this is the kind of following that you want to build first.
Clients and customers.
Once you've gotten your initial set of clients who help you validate your message and improve your leadership.
You job going forward is simply to create and keep a customer.
It's not to build a social media following of millions of people...
It's to CREATE and KEEP a CUSTOMER.
The only reason you build an audience is to have multiple opportunities for CREATING AND KEEPING CUSTOMERS.
Customers become Clients.
Customers build your brand.
Customers protect your brand.
Customers champion your cause.
They are the engine of everything that you do.
Third...
Building your audience after securing a base of clients and customers is like pouring fuel on fire.
It rapidly spreads what you have in a very predictable way.
That's when scaling becomes easy and predictable.
Clients and customers when lead right for the glue that holds your audience together...
They also help you focus that audience on the future that you have promised as they happily share their stories of how your message has transformed and changed their lives.
Here's the funny thing though...
As you clients and customers share their stories...
Your audience members are inspired to...
- Test out your ideas for themselves: When they get results, they add to your pool of stories that inspire others. If they don't get results immediately, they're inspired to keep trying and will have access to customers and clients who happily support them in the interim.
- Step up and invest in themselves ultimately becoming true fans (customers and clients) themselves.
And guess who gets the credit for all that...#evillaugh
Yup...
You do...you get the benefit of all that group think and story telling.
Speaking of story telling...
Yesterday I asked for help...
I wanted you to support the relaunch of The Daily Mentor by simply answering two questions:
- Why do you read the daily mentor?
- What's the single most important thing that reading the Daily Mentor has done for you in the last 30days?
And I want to say thank you to all who wrote in.
From Toni....
Who got bold enough to make a $3600 offer a client and get it (He'd never done up to $500 before that)...
To Najeem...
Who has used it to refine his business model and get clarity....
To Dk...
Who's gotten a brand new playbook for exploring the untapped potential of her life experience and how regular reflection leads to intentional growth...
To Confidence...
Who had gotten a lot from what I do with TDM and not just what I teach, specifically how I sell with zero pressure.
To Nnennaya...
Who has been inspired to get back to the fundamentals and is now working on her very own product...
To Stella...
Who 30days ago became a subscriber because someone forwarded an issue of The Daily Mentor to her.
They soon formed the habit of meeting up to discourse the lessons in the Daily Mentor...
This weekend they got engaged.
And finally there Tino..
Who saved his company 180,000 Ghana Cedi by using the Results Engineâ„¢ with his sales team...
(You'll find that in the issue titled Keep The Main Thing The Main Thing where I talk about the 60day year)
Thank you guys for sharing.
And if you haven't sent in you response to the two questions I asked above, please send them in...
These are OUR stories and they tell me that I am headed in the right direction.
So please hit reply and send in your answers.
Tomorrow...
I'll continue this conversation with the 10 critical mindset shifts to make to be able to build your create and keep the right kinds of Customers...
For instance...
Did you know that Customers buy products to build their identities?
And that if you don't successfully link an outcome to their future self, you risk losing them to someone who understands that?
We'll talk about that and 9 other critical shifts in thinking tomorrow.
Till then...
Get out of your own way and play a bigger game than you've ever played before.
