What will your wisdom be when it grows up

Sep 13, 2026 7:12 am

Hey there..

I've been at this for 30 plus years.

And in the time...

I've gone from being a third class graduate of business management...

Selling tapes on how to make an extra N25000 a week selling meat on a subscription basis...

To being the founder and board chairman for The International Society of Tribemasters Ltd...

Strategic Advisor to Presidents, Governors, Ambassadors, and high level entrepreneurs...

Mentor to experts.

And now as I write this...

I'll be 50yrs in November and I'm thinking of my next 30 years.

What could your wisdom become in twenty years?

Most of us think in terms of...

What can we sell this quarter?

What should we launch next month?

How do we hit this year's target?

Those questions matter.

But they can also prevent us from asking a completely different kind of question:

What could this body of wisdom become if I deliberately developed it for the next twenty years?

Our 10th and final distinction from my N1.9b client is this:

“Build what outlives you.”

That changes your decisions.

You begin documenting things you previously would have allowed to remain tacit.

You develop people rather than simply using them to execute tasks.

You care more about standards.

Language matters.

Principles matter.

Governance matters.

Succession matters.

Institutions become imaginable.

You stop evaluating every opportunity solely by:

“How much will this pay?”

and occasionally ask:

“What will this build?”

That is the difference between income and structture.

Income can make your life better now.

Structure determines what your wisdom can become later.

Think about the great bodies of work we still interact with decades or centuries after their originators disappeared.

Their founders died.

The ideas kept moving.

People kept teaching them.

Institutions preserved them.

New generations adapted them.

The value travelled through time.

That's a very different definition of leverage.

It's really not just about..

How can I make money while I sleep?

It's about...

How can what I have learned keep creating value after I am no longer required?

Over the past few days...

We've explored ten lessons from the ₦1.9 Billion Tribemaster case study.

Not ten tactics.

Ten structural ideas.

Here they are again:

1. Master one valuable outcome first.

Depth before breadth. Proof before scale.

2. There is a way equation behind your best results.

Your results are leaving clues.

3. Codify before you feel ready.

What remains trapped in your head cannot travel very far.

4. Your offer is only a container.

Build the underlying body of wisdom.

5. Let the market refine the wisdom.

Selling is research.

6. Personal reputation can become a prison.

Trust must eventually become transferable.

7. Build carriers, not helpers.

Delegation adds capacity. Transmission creates multiplication.

8. Protect simplicity ruthlessly.

What people cannot understand, remember and practise will struggle to travel.

9. Measure founder dependency.

What still requires you is where leverage is still missing.

10. Think in decades.

Short-term revenue changes what you earn. Long-term architecture changes what your wisdom can become.

Don't try to improve all ten.

That's usually what people do with lists like this.

They read them.

Nod.

Underline five.

Promise themselves they'll work on everything.

And change nothing.

Instead...

Figure out which of the ten is the main issue for you...

Focus on that.

Write one sentence explaining why.

That answer may tell you far more about what you should work on next than another hundred ideas ever will.

And focus on that for 60days before anything else.

Lately there's been quite a few stories about Dangote's IPO...

And whilst that's all well and good...

I'm seeing quite a number of lessons we should be paying attention to as practitioners of the Way Of The Tribemaster...

Starting tomorrow I'll unpack that for you.

I hope you enjoyed this series.

Feel free to writing if you have questions.

Till tomorrow...

Be Dangerously useful.

Get out of your own way.
