Here's something that I've learned...

It's possible to make a really good decision and get a bad outcome as a result.

And...

It's possible to make a really bad decision and get a good outcome as a result!

The problem comes when idiots make bad decisions that turn out right purely as a result of dumb luck...

And smart people who really should know better...

Are so frustrated by their outcomes that they start listening to idiots.

Where am I going with this?

Well..

Let me ask you this...

What is the #1 risk that you can take in your practice?

Is it...

Not getting enough clients?

Not having the right offers?

Not pricing right?

Not having "structures" in place?

Not **insert anything else here**

In our line of work...

We tend to invest a lot of time taking care of others.

Many times it's like walking around with two oxygen tanks on your back.

You use one tank to help everyone who needs air.

“Helper's high” is the name given to that feeling of well-being that follows an opportunity to support someone else.

It simply feels great when you can help someone.

The other tank has air just for you and it gradually empties over time.

Eventually all you have left is the tank you use to help others.

But at some point...

That will empty too.

If you don’t take time to replenish your air...

You will run out of air for you and air for others.

And here's the rub...

If you don’t take care of you, no one else will.

Before the year begins....block out time off....

Block out time for fun.

Schedule date nights...

Schedule time with the kids...

Schedule massages...

Schedule medicals...

And if you and your spouse live in the same house...

But haven't had sex more than 12 times in 12 months in 2021...

Last year...

I had a small health crisis...

And had to be in hospital for a while..

When I got out...

The amazing Innocent Usar...

He called me and shared a rather annoying metaphor about a man who own a bread factory and a machine that was worked beyond it's capacity...

Until it broke down.

And now..

The owner had to spend more to get a new machine and lost a lot as result of down time...

I didn't like it!

But Mr Usar didn't care that I didn't like it...

He cared about me...

And I got the message loud and clear.

Ever since then...

I've not only produced bread within the capacity of my factory...

I've taken time to deliberately and consciously expand the factory's capacity.

This year...

I've already blocked off 150 days when I will not be working...

Why 150?

Well my goal has always been to work 4 months in a year and then close.

150 days means I get to work 9 months only out of 12...

I'm not at my goal yet...but I'm getting there.

And to be honest...

If I didn't mention it just now...

You wouldn't notice it through the year...

When you are the heart of your practice...

Make sure you take care of yourself first…

If you don’t take care of you, no one else will.

If you haven't yet...

Block out your free no work time for 2022.

The smart thing to do is: Do Nothing...

And wait till you know what to do.

Anything is better than just staying still.

The problem with that mindset is that it's also how people get into trouble..

Big trouble.

So as we move on through 2022..

Remember that the Strategic Mind™ is a quiet mind...

The way to a quiet mind is to deliberately schedule time in advance to recharge away from work...
