Last night was pretty heavy....

As a result...

I didn't get to sleep till about 6am this morning....

Woke late and I'm literally just sitting down to write this...

But my brain is still booting...

So rather than prolong this awkwardness...

I figured I'd share something I shared back in 2018 but I think is still pretty useful...

Elizabeth Sloane Is A Bitch

So i just finished watching a pretty cool movie that was also a box office flop...

It's Miss Sloane...and it's about a lobbyist that was hired to help swing things in favor of requiring background checks for anyone who wants to buy a gun in America.

The political maneuvering was absolutely delicious...

But what was even better was the lead character Elizabeth Sloane.

If you haven't watched "Miss Sloane"...

I recommend you do...it's a super reminder of how influence is leveraged to produce results.

Anyways...

The reason I bring that up this morning is because Trust is the Key To Influence.

I can only truly influence you...get you to change your thinking, behaviour and character to the extent that I trust you.

The question is...

How exactly do you create trust...especially online where anyone with a good camera phone can tell a pretty compelling lie.

It starts with understanding that trust is a function of my belief in your character, competence and connection with me.

Speaking of Character...

For some odd reason I use to think that in order to inspire belief...a person had to nice.

It turns out that being principled is far more important than being nice.

It's the principles you live by that inspire people at any point in time to believe in you even though they might not like you personally.

When it comes to competence...

Knowing your stuff is important.

People wouldn't follow you or trust you if they don't believe you can deliver the goods.

And as far as connection is concerned...

This is the glue that holds everything together when the shit hits the fan....excuse my igbo.

So now we know what the ingredients of trust are...

How exactly do we go about doing this online in a way that enrolls people in our movements..

Get's them to help spread our message and literally beg us to please please take their money...

You do that by implementing two core concepts of community mastery...

1. The 4 laws of Trust and Respect

2. The 7 Posts of Social Influence

The 4 laws of Trust and Respect are pretty simply:

Do what you say you will do

Finish what you start

Show up on time

Always say please and thank you

That's pretty much it.

You don't need a phd to put it into play.

Making these four laws your guiding system online basically helps you create a character that people can trust and open doors for.

These 4 laws have kept me in business even when I mess up big time.

They're also why you don't hear any scandals about me in spite of my mess ups. 

The 7 posts of influence help showcase your character and competence in ways that are meaningful relevant and engaging.

So what are these posts?

1. Showcase your expertise and authority by deliberately and consistently teaching your unique step by step method of creating specific results for people.

Today most people know me for this thing I call community mastery...my framework for creating, leveraging and monetizing influence.

Consistently teaching it puts me in a category of one...because nobody else in this world can teach community mastery but me.

2. Showcase your stand

What's your position on things?

The more you share that...the more people get to see you for who you really are.

And people who resonate with that will connect with you.

Unfortunately most of us hide our opinions in order not to come across wrong to people.

I once had a consultation with a relationship coach that didn't believe that people shouldn't have sex before marriage but was promoting the idea that sex before marriage was wrong...

Mostly because she was a member of a church that promoted that.

I suggested that she speak up about her personal beliefs and it totally openned her up to a totally different market and opportunity.

3. Showcase your lifestyle

Now here I'm not saying lead a fake instagram life...

I'm simply saying...show how you live your life.

I'm pretty financially well off...and if I decided not to sell anything for a full year...I'd be okay.

But I don't rub my wealth in people's faces.

Instead I keep things low key...

Show myself as a family man who is insanely crazy about his wife..good food and the very frequent romp in the sack...

Why?

Because that's who I am and it's only people with those same values that I want to attract and work with.

4. Share your life stories and the lessons from them.

We all have life experiences that have shaped us.

The more we share these experiences online as well as the lessons from them...

The more we get people to know and understand us and as a result trust us.

5. Ask questions that make people think

Questions are always the answers.

The right question asked at the right time can create life time alliances or destroy empires.

Your job is to facilitate conversations on your topic...

The way to do that is by asking questions that make people think.

6. Make invitations

Invite people to participate in your programs...

Invite them to join your groups

Invite them to work with you...

Heck...invite them to take you out to lunch.

7. Share your results

Share the breakthroughs you're creating in your life...

But even more important...

Celebrate and share the results that others in you help people produce.

These 7 posts give people into your character and competence and builds a connection between you and your audience.

Use them.
