First...

I'm so sorry.

After I sent yesterday's email, I sat down to read it.

I honestly couldn't believe the number of typos in it.

And given I'd worked really hard on my talent for delivering world class typos..

It was surprisingly embarrassing yesterday.

Past me wouldn't so much as bat an eyelid at that but it's interesting what this version of me considers embarrassing.

Every Monday I host an event that IST members have come to love and hate me for.

It's called Make It Happen Monday.

It's designed as an opportunity to get things done.

But it's also a moment when tell you in pretty clear terms what you need to have in play to get the results you want.

They love me for that.

Here's why they hate me...

Too many experts live in denial, refusing to accept the harsh truth about what their practice demands of them.

It’s why so many end up with a list of excuses instead of achievements.

For instance.

When I started out...

All I wanted to do was get paid to:

1. Talk
2. Write
3. Sing

Then came the rude awakening.

You see...

Talking, writing and singing is the easy part.

The hard part is the promoting, negotiations, managing and fighting...yes fighting, that you have to do in order to get paid.

And if you decide that you don't want to do any of that...

Understand that there are opportunities that simply will not come to you.

It's not fair...

But it is the reality.

And so when I decided I didn't want to be part of that nonsense...

I forged my own way and through a lifetime of trial and error...

And mentoring by the amazing Janet Switzer...

I finally arrived at a system that allows you to do things on your own terms...

I call it...

But...

And it's a pretty big butt...#smirk

Like everything else in life...

It has fundamental rules that can only be broken without consequence:

ONLY. AFTER. YOUVE. MASTERED. THEM.

So...

If you’re still waiting to “just do what you love,” while dodging the parts you don’t, you’ll keep waiting.

Success doesn’t cater to preferences.

It rewards the courage and audacity to work the fundamentals till they produce the results you want.

That's a reality most of us are not open to and unfortunately that's the reality I teach in the way.

Love me or hate me...

I'm all about the fundamentals.

It's why I keep stacking wins inspite of my insanely high propensity for foolishness.

It's why I have the incredible relationships I have today.

It's why I'm literally handed opportunities I know I wouldn't even qualify for on a regular day but I still deliver with radical predictability.

It's simply my die hard commitment to the fundamentals.
