How evil can be a good thing

Hey there!

I was inspired to start publishing PowerIdeas by John C Maxwell and Jim Rohn.

I'd gotten my hands on hands on a copy of his (John Maxwell) monthly audio program: Maximum Impact

I loved it.

But what I loved even more was the information that he'd more than 100,000 subscribers to the audio program world wide.

Sitting there in my room, I had a sense of destiny calling.

I want to do this.

So what would I call my audio series?

In front of me was Jim Rohn's 7 strategies for wealth and happiness: Powerideas from a business philosopher...

The moment I saw the word PowerIdeas, I knew that was it.

So all I had to do was launch...right?

Wrong!

For 5 years I couldn't turn it into a product I could feed my family with.

No matter how hard i tried..

I just couldn't seem to make it work.

Maybe you're just like I was...

You've got something special with the potential to change lots of lives...

And somehow...

You can't seem to get it to work...

No matter how hard you try.

Here's what you don't know...

You're battling with an insidious problem that's hiding in plain sight.

It took me 5 years...

But I eventually discovered the monster...

Wanna know what the problem was?

I fell in love with my offer...

I fell in love with the way it was designed...

After all the great John C. Maxwell did something similar and it worked.

So It simply had to work.

I got caught in the romance of what I wanted to do rather than listening to my market and giving them what they want to pay for.

And for that I suffered very unnecessarily for 5 long years.

In my 5th going into my 6th year of publishing PowerIdeas...

I shifted from thinking of my product as just something I sold to thinking of it as:

Organized intellectual property designed to completely solve one clear core problem for a specific person or groups of people and delivered as an irresistible offer supported by a business model that works for you.

This shift helped me go from just selling "motivational CDs" to offering a cost effective alternative to Lagos Business School...

And in 12 months we went from not being able to make N50,000 a month to over N30m.

A major asset that fuel that was the shift to having people fill out enrolment forms rather than just pay for a single CDS.

Below is a picture of forms from my Lagos subscriber base.

Passion is a power thing.

But it's also an insidious trap.

It can blind you to all opportunity around you and fuel your long sufferings like it did mine.

It is the enemy within that all too often not recognized as an enemy.

The more emotionally invested you are in anything in your life...

The less critically observant you become...

So if you find yourself struggling...

It might be in your best interest to check your current love affair with what you're taking to market...

STOP!!

If if you're currently struggling with your offer right now...

And I made you and I invited you to join me at a workshop to work on your offers...

Chances are high that you'd act on it...All things equal.

This is a typical example of "The Great Evil" story archetype.

When used effectively...

It's incredibly powerful at getting large groups of people to act together as one mind.

Painful case in point: #EndSARS

The movement started as a Twitter campaign in 2017, using the hashtag #EndSARS to demand justice for the victims of SARS.

The campaign gained momentum in October 2020, after a video of SARS officers killing a young man went viral.

Thousands of Nigerians took to the streets to peacefully demonstrate and voice their grievances...

All fueled by the stories told.

"The Great Evil"  is useful for showing how your product or service can help your customers overcome a challenge, problem, or threat.

Guess what happens when you do that effectively?

People follow your recommended course of action.

Question: How do you create these stories?

Well it starts with determining what the great evil you want to address is....

Once you're clear....

In telling the story, you can leverage case studies, testimonials, examples from even people you have no direct relationship with..

The key is to frame it in a specific way.

What's that way?

I tell you all about it tomorrow.

Till then....

Get out of your own way and play a bigger game than you've ever played before.

PS: I remembered that I said I'd shared about why I denied 101 people access to the Community Mastery Method group on facebook...

Unfortunately I didn't remember till just now....

I'll start with that tomorrow so this doesn't get too drawn out.
