A goal isn't something you work towards, it's something you come from— Rich Litvin

Hey there!

Yesterday was one of those days at the end of which, I sit back and wonder:

How come I'm so blessed?

What happened?

I spent some time with a member of Tribemasters who came into Nigeria from Scotland...

Okay so it wasn't some time - it was pretty much a whole day.

She came bearing gifts:

  1. A fluffy leprechaun that I will be using to celebrate wins #evillaugh
  2. A mini whisky flask that she insists is only for espressos but I'll probably lace with ogogoro
  3. Some scottish sweets

But the pièce de résistance was a chocolate cake baked for me by her daughter - who I became friends with but have never actually met in person.

Then she ethically stole my special hazelnut latte - but I didn't mind.

Or did I? #evillaugh #gleefullyrubbinghandstogether

And no I wouldn't be mentioning her name because:

She's very modest...very classy...tres demure...one of a kind.

Anyways here's where I'm going with this...

At some point in the conversation we switched conversations from juicy random gossip to creating the impossible and she shared her intentions with me.

Listening to her, It was pretty easy to see how she was setting herself up for self sabotage..

I could recognize the signs because I have done it to me a number of times.

Here it is.

A CRASH COURSE IN SELF SABORTAGE:

Step one: I want A

Step two: I think I need B in order to get A

Step three: Obsess and focus on getting B

Step four: Because I take my eyes off A - and obsess over B. I don't recognize opportunities for collapsing time to A because I'm looking for B and not A.

That is called self sabotaged.

BTW: This crash course comes with a free certificate in self sabotage for those of us insistent on messing up our individual lives because we refuse to learn.

Here's the thing...

We are cybernetic organisms - meaning as a species we are very goal oriented.

We tend to see what we are intentionally looking for.

That's why being clear about what you want is so important.

But beyond that..

The advantage of seeming impossible goals eg doing in 3 months what you intend to do in 3 months is...

It helps you rewrite your past so it becomes an asset in your present - rather than a liability.

Anyways...

I walk my "Scotts friend" a process I'll be taking participants of The Quantum leap experience through...

And voila...

From her past popped a straight path to her seemingly impossible goal - an opportunity available to her all along but she didn't recognize it.

Assets that were available to her but she downplayed and didn't particularly pace value on.

That's what happens when you create a future based on your past rather than edit the past based on a future you want to create.

In the end she shared a quote with me that capture this:

A goal isn't something you work towards, it's something you come from.

What are you willing for commit to making happen for you the rest of this year that represents a quantum leap in progress for you?

Whatever it is...let me help you make it happen.
