So yesterday I woke up and realized I'd been doing this for 32 years straight.

It was an exhilarating and yet humbling experience.

It's amazing just how three decades passes just like that.

Today I want to share with you a practice that I have that has done a lot for me.

If you've been around me for any length of time you will know that one of my primary key ideas is that you don't build your practice by spending time on it but by spending time away from it.

I'll repeat that so it sinks in whilst I go pour myself a cold brew.

So I have these ethiopian beans I have been experimenting with - I tried a new roasting process for the beans and then cold brew it for 24 hours,

Tasting it for the first time right now....

Sipping.....

Tasting....

Swallowing...

Waiting for the after notes to hit....

Ugh!!!!!

It's terrible!!!

Back to the today's email #ugh

So like I was saying - you don't build your practice by spending time on it but by spending time away from it.

So every now and then I recommend my clients take a full 24hrs away from work and just live life.

That's pretty transformative on it's own but...

There's a level to this that just takes you to a whole new level of productivity and performance.

I call it The Miracle Weekend.

Here's how it works.

Step 1: Book a weekend at the most inspirational place you can afford.

Don't be cheap.

I currently do this 6 times a year...

But I started out with just once a year, then twice, then once a quarter and currently every two months.

Book the most stylish hotel you can find - plan for the best suite you can afford.

Hotels not your thing? - AirBnB works.

The key is a property that makes you feel like you’re a king or queen.

The whole idea here is to set up a situation where you feel absolutely world-class.

In this energy you’ll download the creativity that, when acted on, will raise you to world-class financially

Don't skimp.

Reserve the room for three nights so you check out Monday.

And go alone.

The peak of your brilliance will rarely appear when you’re with another human.

Another thing: Book the best room you can.

Going cheap will end up costing you more as you perform this exercise.

Trust me.

So take a leap of faith.

And get the presidential suite If you can.

Being in that space, at an exquisite hotel, in your favorite destination, will cause you to completely detach from your usual life.

The environment will help to reorder your self-identity.

You’re living as a superstar.

You’ll start ideating—and believing in your powers—like one too.

Step 2: Get a 2hr deep tissue massage Friday evening

Get a full one twenty minutes massage and after that order a meal - do room service.

Tip the waiter or waitress generously.

I typically prefer to ask in advance if the chef could prepare something special for me and have it brought up to my suite.

If you prefer to order - know the menu in advance and plan to be able to order anything you want on the menu without gasping at the price.

All this sets the tone for Saturday and Sunday.

Relax for about an hour or two before going to bed.

Step 3: Step into flow

If you've done steps 1 and 2 well - you'll wake up on Saturday completely in flow.

Order a light breakfast - clean up ad get to work.

You will access ideas that will pay back your expense 10 times.

I know this for a fact from personal experience and from observation.

BUT....

Here's how to mess this up: get caught up on what society has taught them is possible and argue that this would never work.

You don’t even try it.

And so it doesn’t work.

Don't be one of those people who are too smart for their own good.
